Just got back earlier this October and spend 2 nights at Sam's.What a nice surprise such wonderful food, nicely served with superb accompanying wine. Dining room /cellar was well stocked with wines for all tastes plus helpful guidance (not intrusive) from Sam's extensive knowledge. Equally, breakfasts were continental (and or) cooked, a delight to linger over. The rooms and bathrooms were fine. The large surrounding gardens were particularly attractive and adjoined the bedrooms. This is the" thinking persons" venue with a wealth of library literature on the surrounding locality. Should you not find the exact book, Sam could locate it immediatly and offer advice on journeys and places. His team were exellent at arranging local trips. Do try this place, as it is the true "oasis of calm" in a desert."

Spent 3 nights at Sams and Beethovens place and I justed loved it. Sam is the best host and Beethoven is definitely takeing good care of the public relation part. Thx for a good winetasting and a nice stay.

The gardens were lovely, the food was nice, in particular the swiss muesli and myriad of Jams! The whole place felt a little too austere for my liking, I found the piped in Mahler a bit much!
Sam is obviously a font of knowlege for wine. I was suprised that he permitted cigar smoking at the bar, though pleasantly the smell did not linger.
The lack of Tea and coffee making facilities in the room was dissappointing.
More suited for an older crowd.

This hotel is run by Swiss management and is exellent. When you like a good glass of wine please go to this hotel, the best South African wines are available for reasonable prices. Don´t forget to have a Malt Whiskey , Sam can offer you all sorts. In his restaurant they serve a 5 courses mael. Marvelous.
