“Good place to stay when in town for business”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

Definitely the most impressive looking hotel in Swakopmund, this hotel provides a safe choice for a business traveller in this small town. It is probably less suited to family and tourist travellers.

As can be expected in older properties in landmark buildings, service left a lot to be desired. Staff were disinterested, and rarely particularly helpful. Breakfast was ok, in a very dark room but provided all the necessities and more.

Rooms were average, though expectations can not be too high, they were clean enough and had all amenities one could expect. Wireless internet access was very good.

Overall, not a hotel to fall in love with despite the wonderful facade as you enter, but does the job and amply meets expectations.

“Not impressed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 November 2011

The overall appearance of the hotel from a distance looks nice but once you get closer you notice that it is worn and needs some "touch ups". The rooms were very small and a little need of remodeling. The morning breakfast was ok and not much to write about. Poor service. Nobody to help with luggage even if you walk 5 times with luggage. One morning breakfast was served in the reception. The a/c in the room is only there so that you cant hear the street noice.
The rooms on the ground floor that has excess to the garden are more expensive then the top floor rooms with no other diffirence.

Room Tip: The garden rooms are better than the top floor rooms

“Wonderful stay in Swakopmund”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011 via mobile

We stayed at the hotel in November 2011. The rooms were adequate with airconditioning and a flat screen tv. The hotel does unforunately not offer complimentary wifi, but you can purchase airtime for hi speed internet access. The breakfast was good with lovely oysters on offer. These are local and are cultivated just 20 minutes down the road at Walvis Bay. The fishing is excellent and there are local operators who can be hired to take you on a fishing expedition. At Walvis Bay you can also take a cruise to view the seals, see where the oysters are cutlivated and see an oil rig close up. Back to Swakopmund and you can do some quad biking on the dunes as well as sand boarding. There is a lot of sightseeing and shopping to be had. Dont miss a visit to the Brauhaus for some local beer and a good meal. Oh yes, and the Swakopmund Hotel also has a casino.

“Not impressed!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 October 2011

I had a reservation here for 7 days and I only stayed for a night and moved to the Hansa Hotel across the street. The overall appearance of the hotel from a distance looks nice but once you get closer you notice that it is worn and needs some "touch ups". The rooms were small and a little need of remodeling. The morning breakfast was ok and not much to write about. Overall, I was a disappointed after reading some of the positive reviews here. I recommend the Hansa Hotel instead.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the pool seemed nice. I would pick a room on the second floor as the first floor ha...

“Pleasant stay”

We stayed at the Swakopmund Hotel in July 2011 for 3 nights. The rooms were clean and decor was standard hotel issue. The staff were extremely helpful and were very accommodating when we needed extra mattress for our kids. The laundry service was quick and efficient. The restaurant buffet had all the usual bits and was very appetizing. Only thing lacking was a decent wine list!
