If you liked Fawlty Towers then stay here!
Bear in mind that this was advertised as a 4 star SPA hotel
We arrived on the 30th of December to be told that the only deals were half board, and the only rooms left were suites.
The "special" price for this was equivalent to £190 per person for one night!
After finding no alternative accommodation nearby we decided to treat ourselves to a night in the Grand Hotel Ifrane.
First of all "Grand" to me always used to mean big - it obviously means something else in Morocco as the Hotel was actually quite small.
The following is a list of complaints that we submitted to the management:
No hot water on arrival
Jacuzzi bath not working
Bathroom dirty
Room was freezing on our arrival - we had to turn the radiators on
Dangerous bodged electrical cabling for Air Conditioning - 2 different cables joined with sticky tape!
Impossible to use bedside light and A/C heating at the same time
Radiator cover fallen off wall
No internet access in room
No minibar
No hair dryer
Well used dressing gowns is probably an understatement
SPA was closed - check out the other reviews (its been closed for a while)
TV remote control, broken and batteries missing
No real parking
No soaps or shower gels & minimal toilet paper
Restaurant even more like Fawlty towers with staff running around everywhere like headless chickens
3 out of 4 napkins were stained and dirty
No no smoking area within Restaurant
Staff uniforms were old, worn and dirty
We had to ask for wine 3 times, and were finally given the choice of 1 bottle which arrived as we finished our main course.
No beer
Cold food - although not just for us, everyone was sending their food back
Dessert - there was no choice - we were told the dessert was natural fruit! The waiter then brought us a plate with an (unpeeled) orange, banana and apple - still I suppose natural fruit is better than artificial fruit.
Banging music - throughout our meal we could hear pounding music coming from the night club below, when we complained we were told not to worry it was only the DJ warming up!
Breakfast - poor, poor, poor - bread and jam with coffee and undrinkable juice
We reported the faults at 2100 and were told that a technician would be with us in the room in 15 minutes - funnily enough he did not turn up
Overall the staff all looked tired, stressed, badly trained and shabby, no one seemed to have a clue what was going on.
Checking out took almost half an hour, with multiple interruptions.
Do yourself a favor steer clear of Morocco's Fawlty Towers.
