“I can't recommend this hotel enough!”

After spending over a week travelling around Morocco, my boyfriend and I wanted to end our holiday staying somewhere with a bit more luxury where could chill out by a pool.

We had read various reviews on Trip Advisor and were therefore expecting this to be a nice hotel, but on arrival we were taken aback by the friendliness of the staff who seemed to know exactly who we were even before we told them our names! Also we were completely unprepared for the sheer luxury of the hotel, there were lots of nice touches (such as a plate of delicious petit fours to welcome us when we arrived), which made our stay extra special. We stayed in the Geisha room which was beautifully decorated and furnished, I've never stayed in such a gorgeous room before. It had a terrace and I'd really recommend checking that your room has a terrace before booking!

The breakfast at the hotel was second to none - unfortunately there was just too much choice and I couldn't resist! The omelettes that they made to order were delicious.

We were also treated to a complimentary hammam which they have onsite - so relaxing! I'm not sure if this was given to us for free because of the number of nights we stayed, but I would definitely recommend it to anyone in need of a bit of relaxation!

In terms of location, this hotel is perfectly placed around 5 mins walk from the Medina. There are lots of great restaurants in Essaouira and it's such a pretty town! Meals in the hotel are pretty expensive so I'd recommend eating out (try a restaurant called Laayoune which is great value and delicious!). The beach is very windy as everyone says, but the hotel pool is pretty sheltered, so it's ideal. Also the pool is heated, great for people like me who struggle to swim in cold water! If you want to stay in the shade, there are plenty of little spots in the hotel's gardens where you can comfortably chill out without getting sunburned!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is staying in Essaouira and who wants a bit of luxury! I hope to go back there again myself one day!

Room Tip: Ask for a room w/ terrace overlooking pool!

“the best in town and Morocco”

Oh bless Essaouira and Ocean Vagabond !
After 11 days of traveling in the south of Morocco, and thoroughly enjoying it, we could do with a few days R&R !!
Ocean Vagabond is within 3 minutes walk of the medina, just far enough from the Mosque and overlooking the beach which is far to windy to sit on (April) but a good walk watching the kite surfers is fun. The medina is adorable. Very touristic but in a nice way. We also wandered into the area where people live and work and everything is very pleasant. We also enjoyed the variety of dishes in the various restaurants. Although tagine, couscous and brochettes are very nice, after 11 days of lunch and diner we could do with a sandwich and a freshly grilled fish.
The pool is in the walled garden, the library is in the loft, the restaurant is good (tried only breakfast and lunch), there is a hammam but we didn't use on our sun burned skins. The rooms are beautiful decorated, we had a room with ocean view and airco although in this season that wasn't necessary. The staff is ever so helpful, the car was washed by Hassan without us asking but I think he was ashamed of the dusty wreck in front of his lobby (!!!).
Luxury doesn't come cheap but after the not so expensive hotels in the country side this was worth a lot of pennies.

“couldn't ask for more!!!”

Just returned from a lovely 5 night stay. We were travelling with our 18 month old daughter and it couldn't have been easier. We booked the Jaipur Suite and we were very pleased with the room. We had a downstairs living area and bathroom, where we could have a travel cot (provided) and our bedroom area was above on a mezzanine level. The hotel staff were very accomodating and friendly.
The location could not have been better and gave us great walking access to the whole area.
The food was plentiful and very good. We ate a number of evening meals in the hotel and the staff were happy to cook anything we requested even if it was not on the menu (which does at first glance appear a little limited).
For parents with children our baby monitor worked throughout the hotel, so we could leave our daughter in bed asleep and sit down stairs in the bar or library area in the evenings and not be confined to the suite.
I only have two small complaints, first, it is advertised as having a heated pool but I am not convinced. Secondly, the bathroom was lovely but the shower over the bath was very poor so we ended up having a bath rather than shower most days. Neither of these small points would stop me recommending this hotel.

“quiet hideaway hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 December 2010

A Smiling Staff waiting for us as we arrived off the bus. Mint tea and tiny tasty pastries and fruit served in fireplace area. Shown to our comfortable if not palatial room (we were on a budget) with sea views. Super polished limestone bathroom. Excellent high quality bathroom products supplied and topped up daily. Delicious breakfasts. The hotel was very quiet but this suited us well. it is just outside the hustle of the medina - a bit of a haven.
I was poorly while I was there and a very pleasant and efficient doctor was sent for. He appeared in 40 minutes! and prescribed medicines which the porter collected. The doctor charged 400 dirhams for his visit [about £32] - not enough to bother claiming insurance for and the prescription was about £4.
The staff were all a delight and helped out with all our needs.
Lunch at the hotel was plentiful and fresh.
We did not eat there in the evenings.
Only 500 m from where Marrakesh bus comes in - perfect when arriving late on.
My only gripe would be the low lighting levels in the rooms - both of us liked to read but lighting was fashionably dim and the bedside lightshades could have done with renewal.
all in all tho, highly recommended.
