“Amazing Amazing Amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 June 2011

We stayed in the Riad for one night and it was so memorable. Our room was the green superior double - we chose it after viewing a few rooms and every time we saw a new room it got better and better - each one had a theme. It felt like we had our own Moroccan suite. The bathroom was so lovely and followed the green theme throughout - so calming and relaxing. Upstairs on the roof gave an amazing view of the city. The artwork on the walls added to the charm of the place. We had our breakfast in the library room and it was a massive array of local delicacies - we couldn't finish it all. I would definitely stay here again. Perfect location (easy to find) and would recommend it to all. They even gave us a discount on the normal rate.

“Very nice Ryad”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2011

I've just read other people reviews and I was quite surprised by what they said. I've been there recently I have to say it was low season, but our stay was great. The staff was really nice and helpful over all the night receptionist Fatiha was very kind to us and she gave us all kind of tips she even phoned the bus station to find out the most suitable time for us to leave. The rooms were spotless, tided up everyday.
I highly recommend this place to anyone.

“Very nice riad and helpful staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

We stood at "les terrasses d'Essaouira" for 5 nights in february. For a couple days we were the only clients since it's low season at this time of the year.
First we had the blue room which is nice but on the street side. If you have a room on that side, you might disagree with this that guy waking up the neighbors at 5 AM through a 1000 PA system and get them to the mosque. His shoutings last for like 20 minutes.

In the morning I asked if we could stay in another room, we had the possibility of visiting them all and stoo on the 3rd floor, room 15, which has a better bed than room 14 next door.
Very helpful staff, really nice breakfasts on the terrace, good location. I am sorry to read some bad experiences from previous travellers. Maybe they took consideration of these in ordre to raise their status. The salon is really nice, everything was clean, and we didn't have the slightest impression that this riad would be a scam.
Overall very positive impression. Would return there without a doubt.

“Could be a great riad ...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

... but unfortunately a lassez faire owner who cared more about her tan than her customers pretty much summed it up.

We stayed for two nights and I think we pretty much tried every room on both 3rd and second floors - some were just not that clean, some dingy and some didn't have water. Getting the right combination was very hard it seemed! Eventually we left after 2 nights as it seemed the whole Riad was without water and the French owner really couldn't have cared less. The one star of the place was Youssouf who did his level best to keep the guests happy and was a decent all round chap.

The real shame of it is that the riad _could_ be a stunner as it did have a nice terrasse, the rooms could have been brightened up a bit and generally wouldn't need much work to really make stunning. the central fountain courtyard would be beautiful (with running water) and with a little care and attention it could be a 4/5 star review.

Shame really as I imagine most people will go next door to the Riad Al Zahia, who's Spanish owner/manager was in complete contrast to the French owner of Les Terrasses, and couldn't have been more helpful. Unfortunately by the end of our 2 nights in Les Terrasses we couldn't wait to get out of Essaouira and ended up just leaving town. A pity.
