Since it was pouring down and freezing when we arrived, it was very nice to see that we had ended up at a nice place. The courtyard is a very soothing place to have a glass of wine after a busy, well perhaps not that busy, day. We got a top room with a small terrace section, which came to good use after the weather improved (though the views were less than stunning). The design of the room was rather dated, and as the rest of the place in need of rethinking, but it was clean and well kept. Beds are the usual Moroccan granite comfort. The hammam I found less impressive, but I did not visit any others in morocco so I don't know enough to put it into perspective. My only prior hammam experience is from Istanbul, and that was another thing entirely.
As has been pointed out, the restaurant is not too bad. Indeed, by Essaouiran standards, I'd go as far as calling it good. Food is mostly well cooked, albeit pretty unimaginative with a mostly adquate range of wines. We tried a number of restaurants but frequently ended up here due to the mostly poor level of cooking in Essaouira. Level of service is excellent with nice and helpful staff.
