We stayed in the hostel for 2 nights and did have a nice time. Our room was very small and was fairly clean. Breakfast was ok and there was free internet. There is a good atmosphere in the hostel.

It is a party hostel and if you don't like open drug taking then I wouldn't recommend it as there seemed to be alot of that going on.

Magic (the guy in charge) is really nice and helpful. Overall a pretty good place to stay.

Phoned up asking for the cheapest room available for 5 of us. They quoted 100 dirhams per person per night but when we arrived they asked for 130 dirhams instead as they have booked up the cheapest room (10 persons/room) so they have to upgrade us to a more expensive room (6 persons/room). We got away with 100 dirhams anyway since we were given a quote on the phone. This hostel was really hard to find and we can't trust the local Moroccans for directions since they always trying to lead you to the wrong way. The rooms in the hostel have themes! Ours were Bob Marley and the decor in the room and the hostel were really cool! The bedsheets were a little damp and there was dirt on the bed.2 toilets were shared between everyone and there were 4 showers available. There was a hammock just outside our rooms and a nice rooftop area/kitchen with seats and good view. Free wi-fi was provided although it was disconnected several times and also computers with internet connection were provided at the social area on ground floor. There were also chess, cards (and other games) and guitar to entertainment.

essaouira hostel is the best i like it so much <3 enjoy

The hostel is ok if you like the hippie, sand and surf atmosphere.


Here are the things I like about the hostel:
1. Brahim, the hostel owner: He is a great guy. He is helpful and accommodating. He helped arrange for a big taxi to bring us from Marrakech to Essaouira and back. We got an SUV instead. We thoroughly enjoyed the drive :-)
2. Chill Out areas: I liked the areas with the hammok and guitar, and the terrace.
3. Central Location: The location is central to most significant or "must see" spots. But I wouldnt recommend getting back to the hostel late at night. Not all alleys are adequately lighted.
4. Very helpful hostel staff :-)

And , here are the things I dont like about the hostel:

1. Poor Ventilation: the big den or living room past the reception area is supposed to be the heart of the hostel. A bar, big flat screen TV, couches, sports gear rental, left luggage lockers and PCs with internet access are all here. But when you enter, the room is stuffy with a strong cigarette smell. For non-smokers like me it was very difficult to stay even a minute in that room.
2. Lack of Cleanliness: The bedrooms and toilets are not that clean. I'd understand this because the hostel was full when we got there. I saw only only cleaning lady doing everything. When we needed pillow cases, it was the hostel owner who had to look for the items. We ended up using flat sheets as pillow cases.
