“Paradise at a cost”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

The warm welcome at this lovely resort hotel was just what was needed after an arduous 5 hour flight from Cape Town. The rooms were clean and comfortable and as we arrived after the restaurant had closed a cold meal was delivered to us which was very welcome. The temperature was very high as was humidity requiring you to drinks lots of water, after the two complimentary bottles left in our room water was then charged at the equivalent of £2.00 per bottle, outrageous! This is one example of a slightly uncaring attitude at this hotel, our room was serviced every day but anything left on the bed was unceremoniously dumped, not 5 star service by any means. The cost of drinks unfortunately precluded us from using the lovely swim up bar and the cocktail bar, a happy hour would have been welcome but we were advised that as the hotel was not full happy hour was suspended, I do not know where any more people would have fitted in!

On a more positive note the golf courses are suberb, together with the snokelling trips, glass bottom boat and other non-moterised water sports all of which are included in the price. So it is swings and roundabouts really.

If you want a sun, sea and sand holiday with golf thrown in then this place is to be considered, but if you are in a standard room the service is definitely not 5 star.

Room Tip: The junior suites look more spacious and are more centrally placed. Worth considering an upgrade. Th...

the greeting by a warm and welcoming staff was just the beginning of 2 weeks of a blissfully relaxing holiday. The hotel s food and suites met all my expectations and nightly entertainment finished off our day beautifully.

Golf and water sports are included in your price and these are first class facilities. Weather is ideal in November/ december

“long way away, but when you get there wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Stayed at the resort for the second year running to celebrate our wedding aniversary in September. Before I start I will get the bad things out of the way, 11 hours in a plane from the uk is not good, and the prices of the drinks are horrendous, however it is 5 star and other places round the world are just as expensive.
When we arrived we were met with the words ,'welcome home' it is that sort of place. Check in is done with a cocktail whilst looking out over the beach and the indian ocean. The room is very large with all amenities, and the balcony is so large , it had a three piece suite and a few tables in it, Within a hour of arriving, a bottle of wine and canapes were delivered to the room. The room was spotless, and it became a competition between Ashesh our cleaner and Sunny the turn down man(he was our cleaner last year), to see who could make the prettiest patterns on the bed and in the bath from flowers, we even had an invite to ashesh son's birthday party.
The very big beach was a mere 10 yard walk from the balcony, and it was big enough to not get crowded, there were lots of water bourne activities on the beach for the actives ones, and lots of nice walks on the beach
Food, there are I think 7 different food areas, two on the beach,la kaze and the indigo, the main breakfast/dinner room Citronelle, two in the golf clubs swing and the deer hunter (i think it was called) , blue penny very fine dining and last but not least, the Spiaggia nearly fine dining, not to forget the bar(sometimes they have happy hour so look out for it). The food is wonderful,we ate about half the time in the la citronelle and half in the deer hunter at the golf club, Food is very varied, great quality, caters for all tastes, whatever your choice. The deer hunter is not large so you must book. We were invited one night to dine at the spiaggia to celebrate our aniversary, very nice it was. We found a happy medium in that most days my wife enjoyed the beach, and I played golf at the legends course, a mere few hundred yards stroll from the hotel. nice course and the staff very helpful and knowledable, only cost to play was for a buggy or caddy which I used a buggy part of the time and used a caddy part of the time, and then we used the spa facilities most days.Belle mare village 15 minutes cycle ride(hired bikes) wonderful public beach at belle mare, good place to top up with bottled water and drinks, halfway back there a nice restaurant and bar for a rest forget the name.
The sevice from the staff was exceptional and we got friendly and spent a lot of time chatting to them, there were so many nice staff, Thank you Ashesh,Sunny,Kevina Permal ,Sweetie,Ramila, and last but not least, chef Mike Payenmootoo who took time out to show me round his kitchen in the golf club and its inner workings .
In conclusion, one of the nicest , friendlist places we have ever been to, and we may even celebrate our aniversary there again this year.
Any questions on the above, please feel free to personal message me because I have no doubt I have forgoten to say something about the resort

“Nice but not without problems”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

Hotel is well positioned on beautiful beach with good sunbathing facilities. There are many pleasant and well maintained swimming pools around the hotel. The rooms are nice and clean but air conditioning system is old and functions poorly. With ambient temperatures 32 degrees we had 28 degrees C inside the room and a few uncomfortable nights. Staff is polite and eager to help . Food is really great and hotel employs a few talented chefs that take pride in their work. Sporting facilities are old and in need of repairs especially water sport equipment.
The prices of cool drinks are extremely expensive and one cannot resist impression of being taken for a ride . Overall we had good holiday but expectations of 5 star hotel were slightly higher than the reality.

Room Tip: The ground floor rooms have better air conditioning than first floor rooms

“Amazing Villa Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

My husband and I stayed for 10 nights in one of the hotel's pool villas. Our Villa Master, Parman, oversaw every aspect of our stay to ensure it was completely idyllic (even to the extent that he rearranged his days off until after we left). We consistently ordered off menu (due to my allergies) which was no problem at all. In fact all of the hotel's restaurants were made aware of my allergies on arrival which they strove to cateer for. In-villa BBQ was so good we ordered it on two nights. We enjoyed in-villa dining most days (lunch, dinner or both). To provide variety Parman was able to arrange meals from the restaurant menu's to be served in our villa (he really was an absolute star). We had the hotel car on two days and the drivers were friendly, knowledgable and hugely accomodating. Spa couples massage was a highlight. All the staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to ensure our stay was perfect. For example, the chef at La Spiaggia made my husband's favourite lemon cake (not something they were familiar with) delivered to our villa at no charge on his birthday. The golf faciliates were excellent (including water, beer etc in the buggie!) and the Deer Hunter restaurant was perfect for a drink and lunch following 18 holes. Generally the hotel facilates are great. As a guest you can do as much or as little as you choose. For service I cannot recommend the villa expereince highly enough. My advice - splash out. You won't regret it.

Room Tip: Pool Villas facing the beach have the best view.
