After being in ten different resorts in the Maldives, even wanting to, we immediately see differences between this and the others and this is certainly the only one in which we'll not return.
We got there in early December and the first thing we noted was the horrible Christmas decorations, as they were made and the really exaggerated quantity.
Polystyrene Santas not well arranged, Xmas trees made with lights and old broomsticks all around the island and linked each other with electric wires lying on the beach.
Other lights positioned in the middle of the lagoon like leaping dolphins, defaced during the day the see view with his horrible metallic frame.
All this accompanied by a host of other decorations hanging everywhere they can do it, even the doors of the rooms. A very disappointing start. Everything in the Maldives!?! In a hotel that claims to be a four star, we could not believe it.
The room was very nice and huge, but the two beautiful white sofas were dirty, surely these cushions cover sofas were not changed from a long time in contrast with the daily change of sheets. An outdoor hot tub in the bathroom very nice and big, but the first time that we turned on do not tell you what came out from the vents.
Each day a sort of "butler", as they call him, bring chocolates and ask if everything is okay. And I wonder why I need to show you the dirty sofa? If he was really a butler he will see that the cover sofa is to change and you'd do it without delay.
If they think this is enough to pull up the price will not go very far.
Basically this "butler" takes the place of the reception desk, booking the various services like in-room dining, tours and spa.
There is not WI-FI, Internet is by cable, usable only on the table inside the room.
I repeat that, knowing other ten resorts and seeing prices, there must be Wi-Fi in the room.
Another sore point is coming from the bar and restaurant. In fact, one thing that we like to do in the Maldives is to get a drink at sunset or dine out as much as possible near water or certainly the natural breeze and the sound of the sea. Not here, both pool bar and restaurant have a closed room, even with windows all around, but with air conditioning and only a few tables outside. WHAT'S ???????? We were really shocked by it all. The air conditioning? Are we in New York? I understand in the room, but the restaurant in the Maldives do not conceive it !!!!!!!!!!!
And of course the other bars, also very nice, completely outside was closed no one knows why.
On the beach on the west side walls are very ugly.
The small "little bar" open from dusk onwards on the beach on the opposite side of the rooms was not attended by any guest due to very hight music held by the staff and attended only by them.
During the whole week there were workers who did maintenance work on the dock of the rooms and stairs leading to constant noise throughout the day.
The restaurant building has three floors and the two upper floors are the spa and a Japanese restaurant. This is also an unusual place where to built spa and restaurants in the Maldives, because are both close to the sea and in the middle of the darkness of the vegetation.
In addition to the normal one there are also four overwater honeymoon villa equal in all respects to other overwater, except the price, of course, simply move than the other but in our opinion there was nothing more and this has proved the fact that they were always empty. So we wondered, why they don't use this place like spa?? Rather than in that dim place and not in accordance with? Should be clear!
Neither cheaper resorts would do it!
All this makes me think of a really failing management almost non-existen and who has never seen the behavior of the competitors.
There were only few rooms occupied and we can imagine why, but I wonder if they know why. Is not about the crisis, because other more expensive resorts in the same period were fully booked.
So it seemed appropriate to inform them of what we thought and talked with the manager. The person that every afternoon, during our walk on the beach, we met while playing with his son and we did not know who he was.
He told us, offering a drink and a dinner of lobster on the beach, that he was sorry we booked during the week of maintenance works, that our opinion was very important for them to be able to improve.
However it was not his fault because he was there only a few days, but certainly those who run the place before him.
We come now to the positive things and not unimportant. The quality of the restaurant food was excellent. Breakfast is served and you can choose what you prefer from a varied menu of both sweet and savory.
The staff tries to do his best and is very courteous.
For two who are not diving but only snorkeling the west part of the island is very nice with plenty of vegetation and different fishes, we also spotted turtles.
Unlike others who have complained of excessive noise caused by passing boats in the channel, did not seem to us excessive, especially if you sleep in the sunset side rooms. Perhaps they have never been on islands where seaplanes land directly, this is noising!
Beware, in a good way, by those who have reviewed this hotel or any other hotel in the Maldives as the best, because the place itself is fantastic, magical and a true haven to rest, relax and discover the wonderful marine flora and fauna independently the hotel where you go, the first time you get here will always remain in your hearts.
