“on reviendra a rihiveli”

This is mostly a french speaking resort so if you don't know a word of it, you probably want to find another place. Otherwise the place is great. On the cheap side compared to the rest of the maldives, but also doesn't offer much of the luxuries that other resorts probably do.
What is truly luxurious here is the fact that the island is really small so outside of the peak season you have the beach virtually for yourself. There are only 50 or so bungalows, and that is really pleasant. It feels like your own private island.
Food is good but wine is pathetic, drinkable water on tap is clearly a plus, the bar is nicely stocked just in case it rains, and the scuba diving team is great. Anytime water-sports and snorkeling included so that also is a nice thing - you don't get hammered by the cost all your activities at the end of the stay... The staff is also really friendly.
On the negative side... the pool table at the bar was a shame, clearly lacks some investments, as does some of the other equipment for water sports. And if you want that mojito on the beach you just gotta fetch it yourself at the bar. But once you're back in your sunbed, the beach is only yours...
Oh and if you land in Male at night, you will have to wait until the morning to reach the resort because they cannot take arrivals at night. They will suggest that you stay at Kandooma while waiting but I would not recommend that because you would simply not enjoy it. Better save your money and stay in Male for a night.
All in all a great place to relax and enjoy lazyness, away from it all - no shoes no news as they say

“Love the location, love the ethos...”

If you had asked me how I would describe paradise, before I had been to Rihiveli, my description would have come very close to what we found when we went to the Rihiveli beach resort.

The location is simply stunning, with three small islands surrounded by fine white sand and clear warm water, I found it hard to drag myself out of the lagoon. There were so many activities and, even though we were in the minority (the majority of guests are French), we really enjoyed getting involved in the sports and evening events. I learnt to waterski and won a Petanque tournament! The diving we experienced whilst there I will remember as some of my favourites - lots of sharks and manta rays. Not cheap but it was worth it.

The ethos of the place: no shoes,no news, is right up my street. You have everything you need but all the distractions you go on holiday to get away from are removed. Rihiveli is not pretentious or chi chi. It is simple, beautiful and relaxed. If that sounds good to you and you don't need fancy bars, shops and a TV, then I absolutely recommend that you go. My husband and I will certainly go back, though I may brush up on my French first!

“Exceeded Expectations in Every Aspect"”

The island itself is stunning and Rihiveli has built its property maximizing on the nature around it- everything has been designed to showcase the beautiful surroundings and highlight the flora, fauna, ocean, wildlife and even the ocean breeze! Their strap line and concept is 'No News No Shoes"-you are supposed to disconnect from the outside world-limited internet/phones etc etc. and you do. Rooms are very comfortable and the food is all very fresh; appeals to all taste palettes and has more than enough variety. Its a very cozy atmosphere -every night there is some sort of activity planned but not in your usual cheezy resort style-they were well organized, elegant and fun- and you get to meet the other guests and staff . And then there is the staff-all very friendly and everyone went out of their way to make us feel very comfortable and surprised us with extremely romantic gestures as we were celebrating a special occasion. Truely making our experience unforgettable-the ones dreams are made of . I cannot reccomend this resort enough-thank goodness it doesn;t have the frills of the five stars (business center, gym etc) , nor the price tag attached to a five star, but we defnitely had a five star experience! Will def return!

“fun little island”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2010

Rihiveli resort comes as a very laid-back and relaxing resort. The staff interacts and mingle with the guests which makes you feel very welcomed. A group of us from Male went there for one of their white parties. We had a blast. The rooms were simple, no A/C, no mini-bar but as there was a cool breeze, that didn't matter. The party was fun, with good music and good cocktails. For us working and living in Male, it was a great get-away. It didn't even feel like we were visiting a resort. It felt more like we went to visit some good friends, had a good time and came back happy.
It is very "French" I must add. They greet you in French. The beach is small and not very exciting. There is a small neighbouring island where a private picnic could be organised for you. During low tide, we walked through the waters to get there. I thought that was fun. The food, though not too much in variety was fresh and lovely. The service was fantastic. The only flaw was that when we returned, the weather was very rough. We had a small crampy boat with an equally rough boat captain that made the trip back to Male horrendous.
