I stayed at Angsana Ihuru last November for 4 days before going on to a safari boat to dive. I chose it for being not too far from the airport, not outrageously expensive, but a quiet, lovely, luxurious spot that claimed a beautiful house reef. Indeed, Angsana is much less expensive than its sister resort, Banyan Tree, just a very short boat ride across the lagoon. We saw Banyan Tree when we went there one day to dive, and I preferred the smaller, quieter atmosphere of Angsana. The rooms were perfection. My room opened out onto the beach in front of the best part of the reef which was absolutely beautiful. I snorkeled several times and saw a black tip shark the first day! There were tons of fish, anemones, and colorful coral. The food was quite good, mostly buffet, which was fine. The service was impeccable and someone was always asking if there was anything they could do to make my stay better. The spa was unbelievable. I've had spa treatments in some of the finest spas, so I'm not easily impressed. I had a Balinese massage and body scrub that was such a wonderful experience because of all the little details that they don't leave to chance. Our transfers were handled seamlessly and we were always given cold towels and cold water to drink. It was pampering all the way. I would return in a heartbeat!

We spent a week here before moving on to another island and wished we had stayed for two weeks, it was fantastic. The service was excellent, there were 50 rooms and all the staff seemed to know who we were and would do anything to make our stay a good one. The food is excellent as are the house wines and cocktails. We had a jakuzzi room and would recommend this as they are more private and are on the sunset side of the island. The snorkelling is amazing as the house reef is so close to the island. Boats to the Banyan Tree run regularly which enabled us to see the sting rays nd the turtles being fed. We have been to the Maldives several times since 2001 and would recommend this island, when we left I asked my husband what he would change and he said 'nothing'

Room Tip: Jacuzzi Villa

“Heaven on earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

My husband and I went to Angsana Ihuru last April and it was the greatest experience ever. It was our first trip to Maldives and we had chosen Angsana over the other great hotels available due to the great reviews we'd seen here in Trip Advisor.
The good thing was that not even did we not get disappointed, but the experience was over our expectations!
The hotel lies on a tiny beautiful island, surrounded by the greatest reef we've ever seen (and we've been to quite a lot). It's perfect for snorkeling, diving or just relaxing at the beach.

When booking our room, we'd asked for a sunny, silent one and that was exactly what we got.
Despite being a small island, you barely meet any other guests.

The service is wonderful! Staff is very friendly and willing to help with anything. Although they don't speak a lot of English, they make every effort to do so and to make sure you get what you need.

Food - Although options are a bit limited, the food is nice. The best option is to ask for the grilled lobster with jasmine rice and have local fruits for dessert.

SPA- the spa is undoubtedly the best we've been to. All treatments are wonderful. The girls are kind and have fabulous hands! You'll leave like you are walking on clouds...

Must Do's - breakfast at the sand bank, dinner at the beach, snorkeling, any spa service

Angsana Ihuru is by far the best experience ever!

we have stayed in many luxury resorts and were afraid Ihuru would be a bit less than these, but turned out to be our favourite by far.
The ecologything isn`t for "woolen sock" kind of people, but just shows you can have a luxury resort with respect for the precious environment it is situated in, it merely helps you loving and respecting it all! The Housereef is incredible, the best we have ever seen in the Maldives ( stayed at Vabbinfaru ; Rangali and Centara as well), there is just as much to see at your doorstep at 2mtr depth than it is in the most astonisching divelocations. Turtles, Rays, sharks, all are there plenty!

Food is great, not as elaborate as in larger resorts but there is always enough choice and teh quality is very good. Loved the Tuna grill lunches!

the staff is excellent, rooms are nice and clean ( loved the no TV!), beach is flawless. since it is a small resort it is very quiet, which we adored.

We`ll be back for sure!

“Great reef, disappointing services”

My girlfriend & myself spent 5 nights at Angsana Ihuru from 16 to 21 Dec 2011. We would recommend this place to anyone that love snorkeling. The island is surrounded by beautiful coral reef that is filled with rich marine life. We spent many days snorkeling round the island (it takes about an hour) & we saw many reef sharks such as the nurse sharks, whitetip & blacktip. We also spotted tuna fish, baby baracuda, lion fish, parrot fish, puffer fish, eagle ray & a huge moray eel. I strongly recommend the night snorkeling tour as you will be amazed by the night marine creatures such as the spider crab, starfish, squid, urchin, snail, lobster & plankton that glows when you switched off your lights. But do give night fishing a miss as there were hardly any catch among the 15 of us who went out & they charge you USD20 to cook the fish you caught on top of the USD65 for the trip.
The luxury villa that we stayed is pretty old & the bed is uncomfortable. Gym equipments are not well maintained, especially the step machine which has a loose pedal. The food in the resort taste blend & has limited choices. And we had the same buffet spread for breakfast for 5 consecutive mornings! Service quality among the staffs is average in general. As a result, I would only recommend Angsana Ihuru for a maximum of 2 nights stay.

Room Tip: Choose villa from no 8 to 18 where you have reef access at your doorstep.

Dear Mr. William TCT,

Thank you very much for your feedback which is always taken in a positive light and appreciated as we strive to continuously improve on our services and product.

We are delighted to read your compliments related with our reef and marine life. However we are sorry to learn that despite enjoying the night snorkeling, you were disappointed with your night fishing experience. Nature is difficult to anticipate and there were many times when the night fishing trip return with large catches.

In regards to your comments about the age of the villa and the comfort of the bed; we are pleased to share with you an exciting event that will take place this year. Starting in April this year, Angsana Ihuru has been schedule for a refurbishment throughout the resort. Upon completion it will offer our valued guests an even better product and services to enjoy and relax in.

Your comment on the breakfast has been highlighted to our Executive Chef attention for immediate improvement.

Once again, thank you for sharing your experience. I certainly do hope that despite these shortcomings, you had an overall relaxing stay at Angsana Ihuru.

We hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you again in Angsana Ihuru or to any of our other Angsana and / or Banyan Tree properties.

Kind Regards,

Henar Rios
