“Expected more to be honest....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed there in Nov 2011 for 5nights, 3 in water villa & 2 beach villa. After arriving at the airport we then had to wait around at the airport before a 45mins boat ride to the island.
The service was average and certainly not as good as the other island we visited in July 2011.

The things we didnt like was the lack of sealife whilst snorkeling and it seemed the waves were much stronger. There were sandbags at some parts of the islands which did sploit the views somewhat for us. The food was not great with a lack of choice in the buufet at the Air restaurant. We also tried the Aqua and Breeze BBQ which was better but not great.

What we did like was the amazing rooms, espically the beach villa interior, however we didnt have a beach in front of our room, as descibed. Our room was right next to the aqua restaurant and there was no access to the beach so that was disappointing. Pls very careful and specific as to the loaction of the beach villa. The water villa was less of an issue although aqua life was limited whilst stepping into the ocean from the water villa.

There was a nice movie night theme with a giant screen by the bar looking at the movie and gazing at the stars. Overall we might have given Coco Palm 4 stars but having been to the conrad and comparing it directly, we felt that it was probably worth no more than 3 stars as the experience was most definitely not as enjoyable. it was nice but just didnt feel as special.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback on your stay with us in November.

I am sorry to read that your experience did not meet your expectation.

Recently, we have started a beach management program to address small areas of our beach affected by the seasonal sea current. This will ensure that in the future, our guests will have a far more enjoyable experience.

As a result of our guests feedback, we continue to work and improve on our offerings and at Air restaurant in particular, we reviewed our product and now offer a far better culinary experience. We will continue to elevate our service and standards to ensure our guests leave with fond memories of our lovely resort.

I am delighted that you liked our rooms and indeed the living space it offers is special.

I would like to thank you once again for taking the time to share your experience and we will continue to raise our level of service to meet and exceed our guests expectations

Warm regards

“Escape water villa - location is windy and cold”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We stayed in both the beach villa and escape water villa. Both villas were perfectly fine, except for the location of the escape water villa. While it may be hot and the sea was very calm between the dock and the Air Restaurant, the location of the water villas were way too windy and cold. For families travelling with kids, I would recommend beach villa instead of the water villa.

Another thing was about the food. We paid for the half board which was HKD670/adult and HKD500/child per day. Unless you are a big eater, I would not recommend paying for the half board because it only allows you to eat in the Air Restaurant for dinner buffett and if you wish to eat in another restaurant, the amount you paid (mentioned above) was cut down to only USD35 for adult and no information for the child. It will be better to just order the in-house dining, which was cheaper and can order any time as dinner buffett only starts at 7:30PM.

It was overall a wonderful trip, the scenery was stunning!

Room Tip: Escape water villas are windy and cold Beach villas are more suitable for kids

Dear Guests,

Thank you for sharing your recent holiday experience here at Bodu Hithi. The Island Villa overall is better suited for a family as it offers large living space and the configuration of the room in general.

I note your feedback on the dining experience and indeed we are always striving to improve our offering and provide a very good variety of dishes from around the word in the Air restaurant.

Your feedback is most valuable and I sincerely appreciate the time you took in sharing us your experience

On behalf of the team here, I hope that we are able to welcome you back in the near future

Warm regards

“Quality through and through”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

You get what you pay for!!

This place was heaven and is defo recommended.

Stayed here for our honeymoon in April 09 - yes im very lazy when it comes to writing reviews!

This place is around 40 mins speedboat from the airport.
We went HB and stayed for 7 nights in a Island villa which includes excellent quality accomodation with; large ks bed / private plunge pool / large round bathtub / large lounge with tv / private access to beach and veranda area at the back.

plenty to do but of course you have to pay for excursions - would recommend the sunset fishing / mali (although is a bit tacky! and dont go into souvenier shops as they will rip you off) / snorekelling and scuba diving.

Great relaxation spa treatments on the sea - absolutely amazing!!!!

we planted a tree before we left which we hope to visit once we go back at some point in our life.

All in all you want be dissapointed.
Hope this helps!?

Room Tip: Island villa was fine for us bit regret not staying in a water or escape water villa for atleast one...

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

We have visited the Maldives several times since 2001 and had spent one night at Coco Palm when it first opened when Makunudu, its sister island was double booked and had enjoyed it. This time we had an island villa which we loved because they are so spacious, private and you have your own bit of beach however the whole feeling of this island was that it was a hotel that happened to be in the Maldives. The snorkelling is not good as at times it is shallow to quite a long way out and it is never calm on the side of the island where the water is deeper. There are 100 villas and there is little personal service. The biggest complaint were the prices, we had paid for full board and whenever we have done this before this has entitled us to breakfast, lunch and dinner, not here, you get breakfast and then an allowance for lunch which doesn't cover all of the main courses and an allowance for dinner. In addition to this on top of everything, all food, drink, spa, trips you have to pay 6% tax and 10% service charge. Everyone who goes to the Maldives knows that drink is expensive but we have never experienced these extra charges on top of the already high prices. The effect of this is that although there is an excellent band after dinner, very few people stay to listen because of the expense. It was obvious that this was a shock to many guests as they waited for their room in the bar on arrival and this was the first time they became aware of the charges. On a positive note, the ground staff were marvellous and the room boy kept it immaculate.

.

Room Tip: Have an island villa

Dear Kathryn,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of our resort here on Trip Advisor.

I am very sorry to read your experience was not an enjoyable one.

Regarding your meal plan booked, indeed the full board allows you to dine in the Air restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner without having to pay additional supplement. In order to allow flexibility, we do offer the other restuarants for our guest to experience where you able to have a credit towards your meal.

I note that you felt there was a lack of personal service and I am working continuously with my team in order to provide a personalised and a memorable experience to our guests. As with the value for money, I take on board your valuable feedback on this and will look at ensuring we provide greater offering and adding value to our services

Thank you for recognising our Housekeeping team and I am pleased to convey to our team your appreciation

Your valuable comment allows me to evaluate and enhance what we offer to our guests here at Bodu Hithi and I would like to thank you once again for taking the time to write your feedback during your recent stay

Sincere regards

Socrates

“Unforgettable Honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

We stayed here for ten nights for our honeymoon in January 2012. The resort was excellent - the best either of us have ever stayed at. Service and staff to customer ratio was brilliant, we very well looked after and nothing was a hassle. We met Socrates the general manager, who had just started on the island, at the weekly cocktail party and he was extremely friendly and helpful, actively seeking our feedback on how they can improve the resort.

We stayed in a beach villa which was brilliant - nice back garden with the private swimming pool and shower, and from the front you could walk out onto the house reef for snorkelling. There's a huge bath in the middle of the room which was cool. In hindsight the air con was fairly noisy, but that's really the only issue either of us can think of with the room.

For food we ate at the different restaurants, had room service and the beach BBQ one evening which was amazing. They really go out of their way to make sure you're happy - for example neither of us are the biggest seafood fans, so despite the entire menu being seafood at Aqua one evening they cooked us fillet steaks! While food and drink is fairly expensive, you definitely get what you pay for in quality and service. To give an idea: 200-300 usd per couple per night for restaurants, room service about 50-100 usd.

We went on a snorkelling boat trip twice. First time we found turtles and manta rays which was pretty incredible. The second time we actually went out on a boat trip with Socrates to see if we could find the dolphins that were spotted nearby - no luck unfortunately but was still a great trip. There is a water sports centre on the island and the guys who work there are very friendly and good fun. Likewise the dive centre is also good, friendly service - no nitrox but hopefully that changes soon!

In short if you go here, you will not be disappointed. We'll definitely be heading back - it was the perfect trip.

Dear Ben,

Thank you for your feedback and indeed for taking the time to share your memorable experience of Bodu Hithi.

I am pleased that we were able to contribute to your special occassion and very happy to hear that our team really looked after you.

I have visited the concern regarding the air conditioning in your room and I will make the corrective action to address this. With regards to the Nitrox, I shared your comment with the dive team and this is something that I will follow up on.

Your recognition gives the team much encouragement and will be shared in our team communication.

Thank you once again and It really was my pleasure to have hosted you and I do hope to welcome you back, particularly when you tire of the cold weather.
