“Lovely island”

This was a girly break and perfect for what we wanted. The resort is really big compared to other ones that I have visited and also quite windy which was nice but you have to be careful you do not get sunburned as it didn't feel as hot as it was. Current is very strong as well but I thought the snorkelling was really good as I don't like deep water and there is loads to see very close to the shore.
Rooms were spotless and nice as were the general facilities
We ate at Breezes restaurant one evening which was delicious
I did not feel the food and drink was up to much. There was a salad bar at lunch and dinner with pretty much the same salad every day x2 plus perhaps a rice or pasta dish. The hot buffet was a real mish mash of cuisine and and it didn't look particularly appetising although it tasted ok but was no where near as nice as OLHUVELI with much much less choice, they need some work here.
Fruit juice in the morning was really just diluting juice and coffee and tea were left for you to help yourself to with a bowl of sugar with a spoon stuck in it. No tea spoons or sweeteners. Breakfast was ok I eat fruit and toast normally and that was what i had lots of fresh fruit at every meal which was nice
Drinks: They had 4/5 all inclusive cocktails and none were particularly appetising I eventually just paid for drinks as the AI wine was not good either but wine was coming in at $50 a bottles and cocktails $10 each however that was my choice as I don not drink beer so no idea what that was like
You cannot get water or anything AI until after 11am and breakfast stops at 930am and although soft drinks are included you would have to pay for any in for mini bar which doesn't make sense

Bars were situated quite a walk from our villa but they would not give you a bottle of water so we were up and down quite a lot getting drinks

Sun loungers: Each house has 2 so you have to physically drag it to where you want to sit. The sun disappeared from the beach in front of our villa at 3sih so we then had to find another spot and sit on a towel as it was too far to drag the lounger so they need loungers on the beach as well and preferably not plastic ones

We did have a great time but there a few things they need to get better at but overall a good holiday
Deserts were nice and also nicely presented unlike the hot food

“4 Night Chill Out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed for a very enjoyable 4 nights in mid February. We had to wait about 40 minutes at the airport for our transfer to the resort. The Ocean villas are consistently mentioned on Trip advisor as being worth the upgrade. You are definitely given special treatment with your own butler and golf buggy (he looks after about 6 villas), coffee machine, free wifi, and own restaurant (wooden floor, air conditioning, and outside deck for dinner at night). I did a quick tour of the much larger main restaurant and the food appeared to be exactly the same. House wine is from South Africa the white was not to my taste, but the red I found OK. Breakfast is served each morning on the water balcony in two of the end Ocean villas. Get there early as there are only about 6 tables available on the outside deck. Great for feeding the fish that gather each morning for scraps. If you are lucky a baby black tip reef shark might wander by. Snorkelling is good in the waist deep water at the end of the jetty with a number of resident fish living under the Ocean villas. Bring your own snorkelling gear including fins as these are expensive to hire. Sun beds are provided at each villa but if you are on West side (left side with even numbers) you will not get sun on your deck until about 11.30 each day. The upside of this is that you get great romantic sunsets. We went each morning to the beach area to the left of the arrival jetty where there is a beach bar, and some sun beds not assigned to the beach villas with good safe snorkelling. We returned after lunch to the Ocean villas. This meant we had the opportunity to view the rest of the resort and a short walk up to the surfing point at the west end of the island is a nice walk. I did one interesting scuba dive to a reef about 30 minutes away but I felt it was expensive at $76 even with me providing all my own gear. The ray and shark feeding with leftover restaurant fish scraps on the arrival jetty at 9pm each evening provided great fish watching entertainment without having to get your feet wet and should not be missed. All in all a very pleasant first introduction to the Maldives before we went on to explore other islands.

“Very beutiful nature but the resort has much to improve”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We have just returned from Hudhuranfushi. We head great time, but mostly because of beautiful nature and the sea and much less because of the resort. At firs, after the 25 hours of traveling to the island, we were put in a horribble room (No. 100) which was right next to the reception, very small (not like other beach villas) and demaged. We instantly requested for other room, but receptionst keep telling us that they are overbooked and cannot give us other room. While insisting for an hour or so, finally they managed to find us a room, but have to wait for another 2 hours or so. Sum this to 25 hour of being on road, see or sky and you will get an impression why we were not pleased with this service.

Anyway, new room was much nicer, not fancy, but acceptable, with very nice inner/outer bathroom. Aircondition was old and loud, so you cant sleep with it turned which can be a problem, regarding nights are pretty hot. Beach house was located right next to the ocean villas, and to the direct view to the Atoll. I recommend you take rooms from 170 on, the best are from 190 - 200 but try to avoid rooms to No 150, because see level there is very low and is almoust impossibble to swim.

Food was OK and diversified enough, but the staff acts strange. This is because of their constant fighting for the tips - they must be very underpaid. If you give them enough tips, they are very nice and helpfull but if you dont, they are very ignorant. It is not OK to my perception, since you already pay as much for the staying. I think management shold at least tell you what are the expected tips.

At the way home, we asked at the reception if it is possble to have late chec out. Of course we were willing to pay for this service, but thay didnt manage to give us room, which made us very angry, since before another 25 hours trip, we had to wait on the island without the room for another 8 hours.

Most of the trips or sports you can do on the island are very expensive and many of them not worthed the money. So it can get borring for some people. I thin 7 days is more then enough.

To sum up. Island Hudhuranfushi is very beautiful. Resort not so much, specially because of their inflexibilitiy. Perhaps you will find better experiance on another island, but this was our first trip to Maldives so wouldnt know.

Room Tip: Rooms No. 190 - 200

“Great barefoot family holiday”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We loved this island, and at a fraction of the price of nearby islands it's fantastic value for money. The group dining takes a little getting used to, but the food is good, the atmosphere relaxed and the service brilliant. Everyone could find a choice they liked, including the kids. Our rooms were at the far end of the island which suited us perfectly - virtually private beach, loads of space for our boys to explore without disturbing anyone and a little beach bar for regular refreshments. Perfect. Rooms were incredibly clean and tidy, the room boys deserve all the tips. Outdoor bathrooms were fun for the children. Our only downside was that lack of surf tuition - the island has it's own private break and we went specifically to learn to surf, but when we got here there were no lessons available - apparently because it was 'off season' (not something that affects any of the other islands with all year round surf tuition). Big shame, but we canooed, swam and snorkelled and did various boat trips and had a good time. You need to head away from the island at high tide to see the best sea life (rays, reef sharks, turtles, tropical fish). At low tide you'll need reef shoes and AVOID STANDING ON THE CORAL. Would certainly recommend for a family holiday.

Room Tip: 170 upwards worked for us, 200's for deeper snorkling pools.

“Absolute paradise”

We stayed at hudhuranfushi for the 28th December to 3rd January for our honeymoon. The weather was incredible reaching 30o everyday no clouds, this was great considering it was very cold in the uk. We were given a beach hut for the first night which we thought was very impressive. The hut was on the beach overlooking the sea. For the remainder of our stay we had an ocean villa & it was incredible. I didn't realise until after we changed room that we had a different restaurant and breakfast bar especially for ocean villa guests which although I would usually go for this kind of treatment it was nice for the special occasion. Staff in the resort were always more than helpfully & hospitable. This was supposed to be a one off trip to the Maldives but after visiting hudhuranfushi I am determined to go back. It is absolute paradise and I can not understand how anyone caneven think of giving it a bad review. I guess it proves that some will moan about absolutely anything
