It was a while ago that we stayed at this hotel but we have not forgotten our stay! We expected cheap and cheerful, but there was not much cheerful, nor was it very cheap. In hindsight we should have stayed in KL itself or at the hotel in the airport. We arrived early evening and were getting a morning flight the next day, so were a bit depressed after leaving Langkawi but thought maybe a quick dip the hotel pool might cheer us up, but the pool was drained and the hotel felt half-closed. Even in the morning daylight the hotel did not look much better. We had booked it through one of the major online hotel booking sites so had booked it without too much research but from I remember there was not much choice it was this hotel, or the pricier one in the airport itself.
I think the worst thing is that the drained pool coupled with the concrete bungalow type layout gave it the feeling of a tired out British holiday camp / prison. That may sound harsh but we have stayed at plenty of cheap (and cheaper) hotels that despite being basic can still make the rooms look nice. The decor was very boring but also very outdated and tired looking, and having checked our luggage in at the airport I realised (too late) that they did not even have shampoo in the room, something that I would expect at an airport hotel.
Three years later we ended up stranded in KL en-route to Bangkok when Bangkok airport was occupied by protestors, and failed to get a room at the airport hotel, but both agreed we would never stay at the Concorde again, but would rather travel into KL and try to get a room there (which we did, and stayed at the lovely Mandarin Oriental again).
My boyfriend still calls this the holiday camp/prison hotel and I really would not recommend it!
Please note that we did not stay here in March 2011 it is just that tripadvisor does not have earleir dates available on the drop down menu.
