“Poor - stay in KL itself or at the airport hotel instead”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

It was a while ago that we stayed at this hotel but we have not forgotten our stay! We expected cheap and cheerful, but there was not much cheerful, nor was it very cheap. In hindsight we should have stayed in KL itself or at the hotel in the airport. We arrived early evening and were getting a morning flight the next day, so were a bit depressed after leaving Langkawi but thought maybe a quick dip the hotel pool might cheer us up, but the pool was drained and the hotel felt half-closed. Even in the morning daylight the hotel did not look much better. We had booked it through one of the major online hotel booking sites so had booked it without too much research but from I remember there was not much choice it was this hotel, or the pricier one in the airport itself.

I think the worst thing is that the drained pool coupled with the concrete bungalow type layout gave it the feeling of a tired out British holiday camp / prison. That may sound harsh but we have stayed at plenty of cheap (and cheaper) hotels that despite being basic can still make the rooms look nice. The decor was very boring but also very outdated and tired looking, and having checked our luggage in at the airport I realised (too late) that they did not even have shampoo in the room, something that I would expect at an airport hotel.

Three years later we ended up stranded in KL en-route to Bangkok when Bangkok airport was occupied by protestors, and failed to get a room at the airport hotel, but both agreed we would never stay at the Concorde again, but would rather travel into KL and try to get a room there (which we did, and stayed at the lovely Mandarin Oriental again).

My boyfriend still calls this the holiday camp/prison hotel and I really would not recommend it!

Please note that we did not stay here in March 2011 it is just that tripadvisor does not have earleir dates available on the drop down menu.

“LCCT stop over package was the only plus point”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Based on feedback that Tune hotel (LCCT) day time refresher deals were not a guarantee, and travelling with two children after an all night flight from Delhi to KL, I opted for the day time package at Concorde. The highlight of this is the check in and check out times. We checked in at 7am and checked out at 7pm to catch another all-night flight to Perth. Getting to the hotel proved to be a bit of a problem because we opted for the budget method and not a taxi. There is a shuttle from the LCCT to the KLIA and then the hotel has a shuttle from KLIA to the hotel. Someone told us we didn’t need to take both shuttles because there was a direct bus from LCCT which went past the Concorde. So we opted for that (10RM for four of us because we had a lot of luggage). Great! Problem was the bus stopped outside the Concorde and said they could not go into the hotel, which has a 200m drive way before you hit the reception. With two kids and 115 kg of luggage we were out on the street at 6am in the morning. I took a walk to the security post outside the hotel and they were kind enough to organise a lift in a mini van from where we had been dumped to the reception. All went smooth from there except that when we got to the room we notice there were two single beds when clearly during my booking I had mentioned we were four persons. Told that they only had this or one king size bed we opted to pay extra for an extra bed. That blew the day time stay budget out to almost 100A$. We joined the two single beds together and my wife and two boys slept on that and I slept on the extra cot. The room is large enough to accommodate this.

All said and done we had a good rest, the buffet lunch at the Melting Pot restaurant was decent and the boys and I had a swim in the pool before we checked out. With ample time at hand, we checked out at 7 pm got the free 7.30 hotel- airport shuttle to KLIA and then went across to the bus terminal for the-LCCT shuttle. For 8 RM we got the entire trip back to the LCCT for four of us.
TIP: When you arrive at KLIA gate 3 Level 1, where the Concorde Hotel bus drops you, cross the road into the terminal proper and go to the 2nd floor to walk across to the bus terminus which is actually on the other side. Look for the LCCT bus signs right through. LCCT bus leaves from Platform 5. When coming from the LCCT to catch the free hotel bus shuttle walk across from the KLIA bus terminal to the main terminal building and go down to Level 1 gate 3 to catch the free shuttle to the hotel.

Finally, if you can afford to pay 100 bucks for a good sleep for your family then well go for it. But I would much rather prefer the Tune option if possible.

Room Tip: Avoid the swimming pool area if you want to sleep during the day.

“Good transit hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed here in September 2011 twice when we are in transit at KL . Excellent value for money.

Hotel provides a free shuttle to and from airport . However note that the shuttle does not operate late at night between approx 11 pm & 5.30 am. Approx 10-15 mins shuttle service from airport.

Good breakfast which is open very early. However they do not provide you a breakfast pack if it is too early for you to eat and you want to take it with you and have at the airport.

There is nothing around this hotel but there are some small food outlets within a short walk. Did not eat there but I noticed some tour busses bringing guests to eat. The hotel seems to have some dining options which we did not try.

The hotel has a nice pool which is handy if you are in transit and have a few hours.

If you want to go to KL city catch a taxi which is much cheaper approx 100- 120 RM. Youget a taxi if you walk near the food outlets on the main road. If you use the hotel limo service it is a lot more expensive.

Room Tip: Stayed in both Standard and deluxe rooms. Not much difference. In fact the standard room was better...

For your kind information, the Hotel's shuttle bus operates from 5.30am till 12 midnight, to/fro KLIA; however, if there is request before 5.30am, we still send or pick-up guest by using Hotel's van. Thank you for bringing to my attention the problems you experienced relating to the quality of rooms that you had stayed. These shortcomings have been identified to the managers concerned fo rthe necessary rectification.

“Mould in the bathroom”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012 via mobile

On appearance the hotel looked alright, but once in our room we found two single beds even though we were a married couple. We also found mould in the shower and bathroom.

“Ideal for a short layover.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Spent 1 night here, travelling between Langkawi and the UK. Check-in was quick and efficient. Spent the last few hours of holiday sunshine relaxing by the pool - snacks here were tasty and fresh.
Went into KL in the evening which was a bit of a jaunt via the shuttle bus/train/monorail but it was worth it.
Had a great nights sleep in a large comfy bed with spotlessly clean cotton sheets.
Didn't have time to try breakfast, checked out quickly and joined the small queue for the airport shuttle. Unfortunately, as soon as the bus arrived there was an Asian style scrum to get on the bus. Although I was near the front of the queue my luggage didn't get on the bus and was put on a smaller bus following behind. No big deal in the end as it arrived at KLIA about 1 minute after me but it was a bit stressful at the time. I can't really blame the hotel for this and would happily stay here again.
