Very relaxing place to stay to escape the modern world. The staff were all extremely hospitable, friendly, and Lawrence was able to drive us out to the starting point of various walks/hikes and nearby restaurants. Taxis were easily arranged for trips into Kuching - we were always quite lucky that all our taxis back from Kuching knew of the Village House.
We found the pool plenty large enough (we're not training for the Olympics), and with it's ledge close to the bar it was getting good use day and night. The rooms (aside from the suites) are air-conditioned, clean, simple, nearly all overlook the pool, no wardrobe just a clothes stand, sarongs provided, bathrooms were clean, large and bright.
There is wifi in the common areas near the bar. If you need things like TVs and mini-bars you will need to book one of the suites. We spent most of our time around the pool with a book and a glass of wine, or out exploring some of the jungle trails. Don't forget some lemongrass bug spray.
Definitely try the Taste of Borneo dinner - multiple courses by their chef, menu is seasonal, fresh from the market that day. The Taste of Borneo was a great experience, not short of a five star meal. In general all the food provided (including breakfast) was excellent, especially the pancakes and local layer cakes.
