The Sheraton Four Points in Kuching, Malaysia is a pretend Sheraton. I have stayed at many many Sheraton's around the world and this is by far the worse name brand hotel that I have ever stayed at. I was so upset that I took pictures of mold and mildew on the floors and walls. The room cleaners do not, apparently ever, mop and clean the floors. The rooms and halls have a nasty smell of urine to them. When I spoke to the room cleaner she pretended not to understand English so I spoke in Malay. Again she did not seem to have an idea of what I said about cleaning. Trying to make contact with a manager was impossible. Was always not available.
I would suggest one of the older hotels downtown on the riverfront. Older, but clean.

For the price, it was certainly a good value, given the size of the room, breakfast included.

Four Points is located near the Kuching International Airport, which means it is out of town. One needs to be careful if you can get around easily as taxis are not all that common and relatively costly. However, it is within walking distance of food outlets, laundries and other services like saloons etc, which makes it a highly attractive alternative to the downtown hotels, certainly it is better value.

We got the junior suite and enjoyed it thoroughly. Admittedly, there was no real view apart from airport or residential but we expected none for an airport hotel. The bathroom was a good size with separate bath tub, shower stall and toilet. The room was big, equipped with a comfortable couch and writing desk. We loved the size and felt right at home. Internet was provided although it seems only via landline, which may be a tad inconvenient.

Having stayed in several of the more branded hotels at the town centre, we still feel that the Four Points provides a more comfortable stay.

We picked this hotel over the other hotels downtown due to its cost and also proximity to our relatives who we were visiting on this trip. Its located within minutes of the airport and there are numerous food offerings across the road from it. The main shopping mall in Kuching is also a 10 minutes taxi ride from it and the hotel provides a shuttle to it.

The rooms were luxurious for the price. Its much better than the Four Points we are used to in the US. We had a junior suite which comprises of a large bedroom area and a lounge area separated by a writing desk and a rotating TV that can be viewed either from the bed or from the sofa. The bathroom had a separate toilet area as well has a large rain shower. While the rooms were clean, tidy and bright, we did notice the finishing of the construction is not we are used to but these are minor issues. The air conditioning in our room was operating well but in one of the rooms the thermostat was not working so we had to take the mode off automatic.

The staff was very friendly and was very accommodating. They even made labels for our packages when we checked out.

Overall we enjoyed this stay and will be back again in future.

I stayed at this hotel on 19 January 2012 for a night. I picked to stay at this hotel because it was close to the airpot. I had an early morning flight to catch the next day. Checking in and out was very quick with no fuss. As I entered the room, I was surprised to see two queen size beds, a huge bathroom with bath tub and a separate shower area. The room was very modernly decorated and of very good size. However, the air con was so very cold that night. I had to switch it to low and it was still very cold. The bed was super comfortable as well as the pillows. I had a very good sleep after a long flight. I will definitely stay at Four Points again in my future visit to Kuching.
