“Definitely will go back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

The hotel interior is malay style and bit old fashioned. Breakfast have many choices and good enough for any guest. The room is spacious and clean. Bed is soft but supportive. Pillows are great with 2 different hardness to suit any one. Location is excellent which face the philipino areas where someone might found it smelly. But it is very close to all the good restaurants I know. It would be great if the hotel can do some renovation to keep update on the market like Hyatt.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the west wing where you can see the sunset.

Thank you for your review, knowing that you will definitely return to our hotel is the best feed-back we can receive from a guest. Definitely a guest room remodelling will be on future plans in order for us to continue remain the hotel of choice to many of the travellers into Sabah.
Regards,
Alex

“Nice Bit of Luxury after a Long Flight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

We had one night at Le Meridien upon arriving in Kota Kinabalu after a long flight that had taken in 4 countries!

Our room wasn't ready when we arrived (we were there about 2pm and official check-in was 3pm) but they said if we didn't mind having 2 queen beds (our reservation was for 1 king bed) they could check us in to our room right away so we took that option.

The rooms are a good size and the bathroom is lovely with a huge bath/shower plus separate powerful shower. The hotel is in an excellent location and perfect for exploring the market over the road.

Breakfast in the morning was very good with lots of Asian and Western dishes.

As with a lot of these big chain hotels, the hotel can seem a bit souless, but for one night of a bit of luxury after a long flight and before we set off travellilng around Borneo, it was perfect.

Hello Barbie thank you for your encouraging review. I am particularly pleased that the team was able to offer an accommodation option to make you comfortable upon arriving and not having to wait for your room.

“Nice Place to stay for business”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

Stayed in a club room and had a great time. Good location for town. Just opposite the fish market. I would recommend the food at the night market which is held just over the road. The barbecued tuna was the best I have ever tasted.

Thank you for describing our hotel as a nice place to stay. This is what a love about Tripadvisor, travellers sharing the little secrets and the barbequed tuna is definitely one of them....

“Can't beat the location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

What I liked about the hotel :
(i) the staff were courteous and friendly, always ready to lend a helping hand
(ii) rooms were big and clean
(iii) food was good although a little on the pricey side
(iv) location - you just can't beat the location. Located near shopping malls and restaurants - all within walking distance. Taxi fares are very expensive in Kota Kinabalu.

What I disliked about the hotel:
(i) rooms are a little dated
(ii) the hotel lobby was kind of warm

Overall, my stay there was pleasant. There is a bit of a fishy smell coming from the market nearby but it is not overpowering. It is worth paying for a sea-view room upgrade.

Room Tip: It is worth paying for a sea-view room upgrade.

Thank you for your overall good review and for highlighting the room decor issue as well as the temperature in the lobby which is something we believe has been rectified.
Looking forward to your next visit Singapore is only a short flight away.

“Great People make for a Great Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Just got back from 4 days at the Le Meridien KK, very enjoyable.

The staff at this hotel are some of the best I've encountered in Asia, just first rate.

The hotel is getting a little dated, they're already begun the process. If the lobby and club lounge are any indication it will be beautiful when it's finished.

Don't hesitate book this hotel, great place in a great location. I really enjoyed being able to walk to the waterfront restaurants every night for dinner.

Room Tip: If you can swing it spend some extra RM or points and get a club level sea view room !!!!!
