“shush dont tell to many people about this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 December 2011

Ive visited pulua Tiga resort a couple of times and I will be going back. it is kind of pricy but i think its worth it.

The major draw for me is the peace and tranqulity - there is only this one resort on this part of the island. the beach is long and sandy which means plenty of space. You can walk 10 mins and you will have the beach to yourself. There are marked trails all over the island great for jungle treking - some of them arent maintained that well but that just adds to the adventure - we did a 4 hour walk saw monitor lizards, monkeys all sorts of plantlife. The jungle is pristine - and rarely visited by many people staying at the resort. If thats not your thing then there a plenty of hammocks where you can kick back and read a book. The accommodation is good - nothing flashy but the chalets have plenty of space, good verandas overlooking well tended gardens - go for one with a sea view. The bathrooms and showers could do with a make over but apart from that comfortable enough. The food is good - Im a veggie and there was plenty of variety and as much as you can eat - they used to serve cakes for desert but only had fruit when we were there last - come on guys bring back the cakes! The staff are really friendly. I have visited a lot of the islands in Sabah and this is my favourite - purely because of the space and isolation. The snorkling is not very good -not any coral near the coast but the beach is lovely. I will be back!

Room Tip: go for one with a sea view

I was very enthusiastic to go there even if the cost was very high about 1000RM for 2.firstly, I have some difficulties to book(late answers and bed communications with staff).once did it I have asked to have the trasfert from kota kinabalu.the driver drop off us in a little creek where we took a little boat (30 min) to go to the island.we booked for a superior chalet, well placed but very dirty inside(towels and linens, tables, fridge, the floor).the staff was no so friendly, often they don't have answers to ours questions, some young guys without good experience in tourism I suppose.the food was terrific!very poor at lunch, dinner and breakfast!!!no drinks included!just warm water and coffee.the beach was very dirty none take care of it!no activities well organized.oooooooooohhhhhhhhh terrific!!!very very disapointed!

“The Robinson Feeling”

We stayed in one of the chalets clearly in the off-peak season. At one point, we were the only guests on the island!

It is incredible how much wildlife is around: we have seen huge lizards, iguanas, monkeys, snakes, praying mantis and a lot more. Doing some trekking is great to spend the day, and so is the sea. Unfortunately, when we planned to go for another swim, there was a lot of weed/wood coming ashore.

The food was nice, but the bar didn't have a lot of choice (drinks). Like many other places in Borneo, diet coke was not available.

When we returned to the mainland again, the sea level was high. At moments I seriously feared for my life in that tiny boat at that rough sea.

“Surviving Survivor Island”

Accommodation is basic amd in a very poor state of repair.
Food was dreadful, low quality, and cold.
Beaches were untidy and a creek in the middle of the resort is smelly.
The reef has a lot of fish life and is interesting for snorkelling.
The mud volcanoes are a great experience.
Adequate for a one or two day stay only

“OK for a night”

There aren't many optionsaround KK if someone wishes to stay near a beach, Pulau Tiga is one of the few someone can go to. I was hoping to get a bit of island feeling close to KK but Pulau Tiga doesn't really provide it. The resort seems to be aging and the beach isn't very inviting at all. The food was quite tasty however, and the accommodation adequate. The staff were extremely friendly which is a major +++++
As a single traveller I wouldn't stay there again, just too boring. For a couple or family it might be a better choice.
