We were suprised when we first came to pondok and set our room. We sit outside and there was total silence around except occasional sound from the jungle. So relaxing... in the night though, we discovered one big weakness of the house. There is a hole between walls and the ceiling covered with some wood only (i guess). That means you are gonna hear everything people in the next room talk about (if they speak a little loud and our chinese neighbors were really loud). Well everything else is very good and the owner is extremely friendly and helpful. So be lucky with neighbors and enjoy!

The other added advantage of staying at Pondok Keladi is the owner Dee is an exceptionally superb host. He went out of his way to help all his guests (including yours truly) booking tours and even air tickets on the internet!

I've stayed in more than 10 guest houses during my travels but Pondok Keladi stands out in term of friendliness and cleanliness. As a matter of fact, all of the guests got on like house of fireso muchso we ended up having meals together in various restaurants (also recommended by Dee).

The surrounding gardens is brilliant with loads of different flora and fauna kept immaculately by Marc.

The common kitchen is well stocked up with coffee,tea, eggs and bread and noodles. And the communal area is a great place to meet other guests. too.

I will definitely return...

I was only in Pondok Keladi for a couple of nights and during that time was relatively antisocial which I think meant I missed the key part of this guesthouse! The hosts are very friendly and very keen to show you around the town.
The location, as mentioned in other reviews, isn’t central and is about 20mins to walk back from the main beach/town to the guesthouse but you know that in advance and also means that the location is secluded and quiet. Plus, when looking at the other options on or close to the beach, Pondok looked far superior! The beach was nice, a bit touristy but what do you expect in Langkawi and I had just been in the Philippines in remote locations! There are a couple of nice bars and restaurants along both the beach and the main road but there isn’t a huge choice.
The room was very nice and comfortable with ac, fan and fridge; all set in nice gardens with a central communal area with an open kitchen stocked with the essentials.
Overall, I wish I’d had a few more days to be able to see some more of the island and I’d recommend Pondok Keladi to anyone wanting to stay on the island.

I've been travelling for the last 2 months in Thailand and Malaysia. Pondok was highly recommended by another traveler. My plan was to stay for only 3 nights in Langkawi but ended up staying for 2 weeks! Thanks to Dee and Marc for being such brilliant hosts. I've stayed in numerous guest houses through out my travel and Pondok is the best so far! My room was cleaned everyday. Beautiful garden, lovely common area called Balai with lovely day beds. Also library where one can exchange books and free 24 hour wifi. And the dogs too are adorable. I hired a moped as Pondok is 3 min drive to the beach. It was such an added advantage to have a transport as they are a few lovely beaches on the island that I visited.
