“Nice four star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012 via mobile

I book,it as 5 start hotel whan I read about in the tripadvisor I found it 4 start in booking.com and agoda is 5 start resort. Overall I like it as four start hotel is very good resort and I give it 3.5 out of 5 . If it 5 start hotel I give it 2.5 out of four. The bad think is you must take the hotel bote to come to the hotel and they are no bote after 7:45 pm so if you come liter you have to pay 50 usd so you must be on time.

“Very Good but could be so much better!”

Stayed for 3 night week end to de stress perfect for that I had been before so knew what to expect. Since last visit the food available seems to have reduced slightly in scope. I had looked for the "pasta bar" we enjoyed last time and was told it was no more. After paying for the buffet and starting on that I was annoyed to see the pasta bar appear. The buffet is expensive and well prepared but meat and fish provided are average quality at best. We also asked for a day outing to be booked and only found out at 11 at night that this had not been done no reason given. Went to swim in the sea one day and after a few minutes realised that there were jelly fish in the water no advice on this from hotel and no one seemed to be checking. The beach bar seemed to open on a random schedule not following the advertised times. This generally are the syptoms of why this hotel is not ratable as excellent. As pointed out by others some of the staff are poorly trained and maybe are in the wrong career? Communicating to guests could be much better lots of "hello good day" but not much info on things you need to make a truelly memorable stay. As noted below hotel now seems to be on the flight path did one of the hotels at Cerang pay for path to be moved?

Room Tip: If you have been there before make sure you let the desk know even if you book through low cost room...

“Wonderful place for a honeymoon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of a 2 week honeymoon trip to Malaysia in January and it was the highlight of our trip. We arrived by ferry from Penang to Langkawi (you need to take a taxi from the port to the Taj jetty which cost us 28 ringgit). The arrival process was great and really welcoming - all the staff at the hotel were very friendly without being at all intrusive.
We had a superior seafront room (no. 1006) which was at the end of the strip. This suited us as it meant it was nice and quiet but I suppose some might prefer to be closer to the restaurant and beach areas.
The room was spacious and pleasantly decorated in traditional style with plenty of wood and what looked like travertine floors and walls in the (very spacious) bathroom areas. I would point out that the style is NOT super shiny modern so if this is what you are looking for you might be disappointed. We liked it a lot and felt it was in keeping with the relaxed style of the resort.
The whole resort is very attractive, particularly the pool and restaurant areas. Drinks were very nice. Food I would say is good without being exceptional and the prices are high for Malaysia - c. 45 ringgit + taxes for Nasi Goreng Ayam or 60+ for an Indian curry. I think this would become an irritation if one were to stay for a long time - it was ok for us as we live in the UK and are used to paying around this amount for food but I can see it could really irritate some people.
The leisure facilities are decent - good tennis courts, kayaking, swimming, table tennis, DVD and book library, cycles - all free. Some of the bikes could do with an overhaul.
We didn't leave the island for the 5 days we were there, nor did we take any of the trips.
For us it was the perfect place to just switch off and enjoy a slower pace of life - no cars, no stress and a beautiful, relaxed environment. We really loved it.
p.s. we didn't have a problem with mosquitoes - the staff advised us to close the doors after 7.00pm (ok to sit outside after that just don't keep doors open and light on) and I used a natural (i.e. not jungle strength and foolproof) spray when going for dinner. I get bitten very easily and I didn't get any bites at all.

“Beautiful view, good food, great staff. Hidden paradise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

My husband and I stayed there 2 years ago. We stayed in one of their ocean view villas and it was amazing, clean, firnedly, pittoresque... I strongly recommended this hotel. It is on a small island located maybe 10 minutes away from Langkawi but they provide free transport regurlarly. You can consequently pop in town when you desired to do so. However, if you are in a relaxed mood, you will find everything you need there and will not want to leave this paradise to go in town.

Room Tip: Ocean view villa is wonderful, pay the extra: it is worth it!

“This is not a Taj, and not a 5* hotel.”

Rooms are old, safe box and fan in room doesn't work, at first shown room a LOT of Mosquitos.

Taj 5* hotel and ONE restaurant? Yes)). Food is no good, variety is ok, but taste... One juice, two beer, bread and and a bad BBQ price almost $100 (270 ringgits).

On photos of hotel you don't see langkawi airport, but it here, and planes flight over your head.
