We've just come back from a four night stay at the Sheraton Four Points Langkawi and I have to say, having read the reviews before leaving we were very pleasantly surprised.
Since we booked for the long weekend at the last minute we chose the hotel mainly because it had availability for our group of 7. But from the warm and smiling welcome as we arrived to the personal goodbyes as we left, everyone at the resort did their best to make our stay memorable and happy.
The hotel is very new, and there are obviously some teething problems that go with a new place, but when issues arose, staff were efficient and proactive in resolving them.
We had booked three rooms and there were no connecting rooms available when we checked in, so we were immediately upgraded to a suite - an unexpected and welcome bonus! Our third, regular, room was very spacious with a lovely modern bathroom. Even though we had forgotten to book a baby cot and phoned from the airport to request one, it was in our room already when we arrived.
There are some great practical touches, like free wifi, bathrobes, slippers robust enough to walk to the pool in and plenty of free bottled water. Our children loved the very safe and private beach (no touts, jet skis etc) and the enormous pool. It never felt crowded and there were always plenty of loungers, despite the hotel being very full over the long weekend.
There's only one restaurant but it does its job well and if you want to explore other eating options there are plenty just a few minutes drive away. The food was good quality and during busy breakfast times was replenished quickly. The restaurant staff went out of their way to be helpful.
On the minus side, there's little shade around the pool, although they have planted trees (long term solution) and are building some shady cabanas too in the short term. The resort manager, Tasriff, is very involved and clearly has further plans for the resort's development. He's out and about, chatting to guests and is very responsive to feedback. It really is a work in progress, but at the price you pay compared to other resorts in Langkawi (some of which are getting a bit old and tired) it's definitely worth it.

Dear Bombaloo,
Thank you for the time spent to provide us with your recent experience at our Resort in this review.
Your kind comments are greatly appreciated. Our guests comfort is amongst our highest priorities and it is always gratifying to receive such praise. Nice to know of your pleasant encounter with our staff especially our Resort Manager, Mr. Tasriff whom I believe has made you feel special.
I have shared your comments on the little shade at our pool side to the attention of those concerned; rest assured that there are umbrella stands provided for our guests use.
It was a pleasure to note how much you have enjoyed your holiday with us and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support.
Meanwhile, I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.
Warm regards.
