I booked a 4-night superior room package for my family, including toddler son and wife. Our package included daily breakfast and a buffet dinner at the Feast cafe. We drove straight from LGK airport in rental car to the resort. The Sheraton wasn't hard to find via map navigation. The check-in process was quick and efficient by the nice Japanese lady at the front desk. We were assigned a sizeable chalet style room with balcony and with a restricted view of the smaller beach next to the fitness centre. Transport to the chalet was via the hotel buggy, basically a converted 3-ton lorry with 3 rows of seats for 10 pax. This I found rather inconvenient because we hv to call for the buggy each time we wanted to go out. The wait for the buggy to come pick us up could be pretty long depending on how many guests who are checking in or out.
Most of the guests are Middle Eastern, European and wealthy Chinese from the PRC. We were only one of the handful of local Malaysians staying there.
The Arabs and Europeans were generally well behaved and nice, but the mainland Chinese were a rowdy bunch. There were a large group of them staying in nearby chalets, and during the nights they had a booze binge party and the noise created was annoyingly loud and disturbing.
The room we were assigned was fairly large and clean, with a large bathtub next to an opening to the main room, separate shower stall and toilet. The chalet sits elevated from the ground and is constructed using good quality wood which I believe is the same used for boats. The surrounding areas are occupied by monkeys who keep away unless you happen to be snacking in the balcony.
There are many slopes and inclines in the area arund the chalets and would prove difficult for the elderly with difficulty walking.
The hotel swimming pool is rather smallish and the cleanliness of the water leaves a lot to be desired. Food in the breskfast and dinner buffet was pretty good and we enjoyed it much. One gripe I have in the Feast restaurant is the air cond seems to be turned down low, this ventilation seems pretty bad and it was quite hot and stuffy in the morning.
All in all, it was a relaxing holiday for the price paid.
Room Tip: Ask for a chalet facing the sea or at least along the main road leading pass the Captain's Grill...
