“Amazing place and a great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

We stayed at this resort for 5 days and would go again. It was peaceful with the low-rise wooden architecture, and it has beautiful grounds with monkeys (well behaved), squirrels and even a water monitor! The beach and view are amazing and the food is excellent. The pool is long enough for doing lengths and the gym is well set up, with a view out the the sea and islands. The service was great. It is not brand new- but to me that was part of its charm- everything worked well and the grounds and buildings were well maintained (no mean feat for such a large property). I would really recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The rooms with a sea view are fantastic, but the garden rooms also had a lovely verandah and outlook...

“Great experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

I stayed at Sheraton with my wife for honey moon from Feb, 2 for 3 days. It was a great experience. To begin with the welcome drink at the reception was prompt and nice, check in was fast and our sea facing chalet was good and spacious. Also enjoyed the fruit basket and cookies kept to welcome us. We loved the walk from our chalet and enjoyed the food at the Spice Trader and Captains grill restaurant on two of the evenings.

The sheraton is a little far from Kuah town so it was quite difficult to get there as planned. But the resort experience more than made for it. Also my wife and I spent one evening at the Sheraton spa and it was superb...Really good service and must try was the signature body massage there!

Only disappointment was that there were very few people at the Chime bar where we were thinking of a dance post dinner. The infinity pool was nice but no one was around to serve a drink when it opened at 8am in the morning when i was there. The service was prompt when we needed anything in the room. overall we really enjoyed the honeymoon, the trips offered by sala tours and the courtesy and the service of the staff there at Sheraton.

Room Tip: Go for the sea facing room with Jacuzzi...really worth the views and experience of starying at the s...

“Relaxing holiday in the midst of nature & monkeys”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

I booked a 4-night superior room package for my family, including toddler son and wife. Our package included daily breakfast and a buffet dinner at the Feast cafe. We drove straight from LGK airport in rental car to the resort. The Sheraton wasn't hard to find via map navigation. The check-in process was quick and efficient by the nice Japanese lady at the front desk. We were assigned a sizeable chalet style room with balcony and with a restricted view of the smaller beach next to the fitness centre. Transport to the chalet was via the hotel buggy, basically a converted 3-ton lorry with 3 rows of seats for 10 pax. This I found rather inconvenient because we hv to call for the buggy each time we wanted to go out. The wait for the buggy to come pick us up could be pretty long depending on how many guests who are checking in or out.

Most of the guests are Middle Eastern, European and wealthy Chinese from the PRC. We were only one of the handful of local Malaysians staying there.

The Arabs and Europeans were generally well behaved and nice, but the mainland Chinese were a rowdy bunch. There were a large group of them staying in nearby chalets, and during the nights they had a booze binge party and the noise created was annoyingly loud and disturbing.

The room we were assigned was fairly large and clean, with a large bathtub next to an opening to the main room, separate shower stall and toilet. The chalet sits elevated from the ground and is constructed using good quality wood which I believe is the same used for boats. The surrounding areas are occupied by monkeys who keep away unless you happen to be snacking in the balcony.

There are many slopes and inclines in the area arund the chalets and would prove difficult for the elderly with difficulty walking.

The hotel swimming pool is rather smallish and the cleanliness of the water leaves a lot to be desired. Food in the breskfast and dinner buffet was pretty good and we enjoyed it much. One gripe I have in the Feast restaurant is the air cond seems to be turned down low, this ventilation seems pretty bad and it was quite hot and stuffy in the morning.

All in all, it was a relaxing holiday for the price paid.

Room Tip: Ask for a chalet facing the sea or at least along the main road leading pass the Captain's Grill...

“Just a beach resort, not sheraton standard”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Built with brown wood, similar to old Canadian houses but all set out nestled among trees and plants lining the beach in Langkawi. Not a bad resort setting, in any case.

Need to call for a buggy to get out from hotel room and sure need a taxi to get anywhere.

Good for a lazy and relaxing stay from civilization.

“Is Sheraton going bankrupt?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

My partner and I chose to stay at the Sheraton in Langkawi for having heard great comments about the franchise. Unfortunately, those comments did not apply for the Langkawi branch. There was thick dust under the furniture and even a dead cockroach; The wardrobes were rotten inside; the cabinet under the bathroom sink had a bad smell and filled with mosquitoes; bathroom tiles were old with black stains; bedsheets were filthy; bottles in the minibar had moulded labels; the mosquito plug was innefficient; room service took ages to bring food; the swimming pool looks way outdated; there were no snacks available at the bar next to the pool or at the club lounge; the gym was not open 24h as advertised; and we forgot two jackets in the room, which were never found by any of the staff. All that made us wonder if Sheraton International is going through serious financial problems...

Room Tip: Do not stay at Sheraton Langkawi!

Dear MarceloHanoi,

Thank you for the time taken to provide us with this review.

It is with regret to know that your overall expectation of our Resort was low mainly due to the cleanliness of our guestroom and Food & Beverage services. I have addressed your concern and working closely with my Housekeeping Team to improve the cleaning process and conduct thorough check for better guest experience.

Your encounter with our room service and services available at Chime is being looked into by our Food & Beverage Manager for improvement. Please accept my apologies for the shortfall in these areas.

I am pleased to inform that your two jackets were found and kept in our lost and found yesterday. As per my email to you yesterday, please contact me at kumar.renoo@sheraton.com for the return arrangement.

Our guest can gain access to our gym after 9.00 pm by using their room key.

Once again, I apologize for the disappointment and thank you for your valuable feedback.

Meanwhile, I look forward to hear from you regarding the return of your two jackets.

Warm regards.
