We stayed at the Thistle, JB, for three months, November, December, 2011 and January 2012. From the first day, the service was great, the staff was very accomodating and friendly. We took advantage of the executive lounge for a very reasonable rate. This was well worht it. We particularly liked the Oasis restaurant by the pool, which served Japanese/Italian cuisine. And of course we had a few libations as well. Here, again, the service was great. Almost all of the staff spoke English. This was a big help for us, because we spoke very little Malay. The comfort level we felt staying at the Thistle was very evident when we started referring to it as "home." Thanks, Thistle Crew, we miss you guys. BTW, the location is perfect for getting everywhere. All of penisular Malaysia and Singapore.

Convenient location very near the Woodlands checkpoint, less than 10 minutes by car. The room we had was reasonable in size and price (paid about RM190 per nite) but would needed a bit of a touch up. The kids enjoyed the pool area. The staff did try their best to look to our needs (eg they will call back to ensure that what we had asked for had been delivered). The drawback of the hotel was that the check in took a long time (about 30 minutes wait), the hotel car park was dark and dingy and that the sound proofing of the room was not up to mark.

The location is splendid overlooking the straits of johor and very near to the causeway for those who plan to have a day trip to singapore. Nearby to all the major shopping centres.if you are looking for a more authentic local delicacy(cheaper), there are a few eateries that start after 7 daily next to the soccer field....but the staff at the confectionary shld learn hw to smile when serving....

While on business a large group of us stayed at the Thistle Hotel. Depending on the travel schedule we had as few as 3 and as many as 13 staying at the hotel staying between 60 and 120 days. We were greeted by friendly and professional staff. The rooms were clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable and gave us all a good nights rest. Maid service was excellant and the front desk attended to any special needs we had. We selected the executive stay so had use of the lounge making use of it for morning breakfast and evening snack with drinks. The lounge staff was great. Soon everyone from the wonderful gentlemen greeting us outside each day to the maid service knew us by name and greeted us as friends. We also took advantage of the on-site dining facilities and had great meals every time. I rated it just below excellent for the location. It was not that the location was bad but we selected a hotel that was not the closest to our place of business. Overall, it was a great stay and all agreed we'd stay again.
