I stayed in Protea Ryalls for 2 nights while on a business trip to Blantyre. The hotel has a old structure from outside, but the inside has a more modern touch to it, with occasional african design elements in between. The overall ambience is nice. Rooms are very clean, well arranged. There's a a small wardrobe, a table, small sitting area, refrigerator, and a lcd TV, which I couldn't figure out how it works! And then the bathroom which is immaculate, and has a separate shower area and a tub.
Eating: As far as I remember there are two main restaurants. One just behind the reception area, where daily buffet is arranged(they also take a-la-cart here), and a second , more chic restaurant which serves only a-la-cart menu. Tried both of them and I liked the latter. It is bit more expensive but the food is prepared better here. In the former , buffet was elaborate, with many options from starters to dessert, however I felt the quality could have been better, not saying it was bad, but definitely could be improved.
Break fast also had elaborate buffet spread.
All in all a v good hotel if you don't mind spending extra money!
