“A blue gem in Northern Madagascar”

Having stayed @ this hotel in mid- Feb. of this year, I feel compelled to relay that it is a great place to stay if you are heading up to the Antisarana area of Madagascar and Amber Mountain. We encountered the owner , Mr. Michel Desclaux, when we arrived @ the local airport, and he was very kind, put our minds to rest about our transfer and organized excursions, and was there @ the hotel, when we arrived -to greet us,and upgrade our accommodations, which were more than you could ever expect for the area and country.
Mind you-this hotel is not near the town, needs a bit of polish here and there, but the view of Diego Bay,and the restaurant food , as well as the staff make up for it.

“Heaven on Earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2008

I found this hotel when I was staying in the actual city of Diego Suarez (Antsiranana). It is one of the finest if not THE finest in Madagascar. I have stayed there three times in the last two years. The owner, Michel is well traveled and speaks excellent English. Be sure to bring you jazz CD's for him to burn when you come. He is a huge music fan!
The staff is very attentive but never in your face. The food and wine selection is like an oasis. Even the Rose's from the Provance have weathered the trip.
This year there will be a small zoological park next door and you can see lemurs there.
You may hear some of the best live jazz in the Indian ocean while you are there.
Go ahead and spring the big bucks for the Presidential suite if you like. It is a great value!
See a guy named Diny for the best sapphires in town. The hotel will direct you...or ANYONE interested in Madagascar travel can contact me. I have a tourism business there since 2005.

“Great time in this nice accomodation”

We arrived in the hotel after being picked up at the airport by the wife of the hotels owner. The owner, a Frenchman, is very nice guy and sympathetic towards his clients. We stayed for 10 nights in a very large room with a great view over de Diego bay. The room is cleaned daily. The food in the restaurant is very good but more expensive '(especially the drinks) then in the restaurants in Diego Suarez. The hotel offers a lot of excursions. Name it and they will make it happen. The staff of the hotel is very nice and very helpfull to make your stay even better.
Overall we had a great time.

“Very good in its day I imagine”

We arrived from Nosy Be, picked up by the owner, following the interesting experience that was being fleeced by the Nosy Be ferry taxi....We opted for travel by car as we were able to feed the holy crocs on the way (very impressive) and see the Tsingy's (equally impressive). I forget how much it cost now, it wasnt cheap, but worth it for that once in a lifetime trip. On the journey, we had ample time to meet the hotel owner who was a very agreeable chap.

The hotel is located on a hillside with very nice views over the sea. It is quite large/spread out if a little dated. Room was spacious with a suspect nautical theme going on. The food is good, with the added entertainment of a live jazz band in the evening. Quite a nice touch by the owner who likes to circulate around the diners in the evening, having a chat will his current crop. The hotel also offers quads to rent , which we tried out on one of the maped routes, very good fun! Overall a pleasant stay for 5 or so days, however not sure that the premium asked is merited.
