“Bit old and tired, a good view by itself is not enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

This hotel is a Bit old and tired. It seems to rely on it's view rather than anything else but only the most expensive rooms really take full advantage of the view. We had a huge suite, but no real view and most of the room was wasted. The decor was somewhat eccentric with no unifying theme.
Location wise it is around three kilometers out of town.
The food was only OK and expensive by Madagascan standards
No wifi, but 3G Internet works in Diego if you have a sim card.
If we were going to Diego again we would stay up in the mountains at Domaine de Fontenay. But then again our main interest is in the wildlife and vegetation rather than wanting to see Diego itself

Room Tip: Jump up and down until you get upgraded to a room with a real view

This is a great hotel with good location and food. It is also a good place to anchor yourself when discovering Diego and its surrounding. Everything works fine, the hotel is clean with great views and a nice pool.

“What an amazing view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

This was definitely the biggest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Since tourism in Madagascar is a little slow at the moment, the owner was able to upgrade us to better rooms that opened up onto a huge living room with extra bathroom, shower and balcony.
The food and service were irreproachable.

“A blue gem in Northern Madagascar”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2009

Having stayed @ this hotel in mid- Feb. of this year, I feel compelled to relay that it is a great place to stay if you are heading up to the Antisarana area of Madagascar and Amber Mountain. We encountered the owner , Mr. Michel Desclaux, when we arrived @ the local airport, and he was very kind, put our minds to rest about our transfer and organized excursions, and was there @ the hotel, when we arrived -to greet us,and upgrade our accommodations, which were more than you could ever expect for the area and country.
Mind you-this hotel is not near the town, needs a bit of polish here and there, but the view of Diego Bay,and the restaurant food , as well as the staff make up for it.

“Heaven on Earth”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2008

I found this hotel when I was staying in the actual city of Diego Suarez (Antsiranana). It is one of the finest if not THE finest in Madagascar. I have stayed there three times in the last two years. The owner, Michel is well traveled and speaks excellent English. Be sure to bring you jazz CD's for him to burn when you come. He is a huge music fan!
The staff is very attentive but never in your face. The food and wine selection is like an oasis. Even the Rose's from the Provance have weathered the trip.
This year there will be a small zoological park next door and you can see lemurs there.
You may hear some of the best live jazz in the Indian ocean while you are there.
Go ahead and spring the big bucks for the Presidential suite if you like. It is a great value!
See a guy named Diny for the best sapphires in town. The hotel will direct you...or ANYONE interested in Madagascar travel can contact me. I have a tourism business there since 2005.
