“Great Time”

We stayed at Kibo Safari Camp in mid January 2012. The setting is surreal as you swim with a picture perfect view of Kilimanjaro. We enjoyed the ambience and the space was conducive to meeting other travelers. The food wasn't anything overly special but the service was phenomenal. It is a smaller resort with a real personal feel. We enjoyed our server Duncan very much and he made our stay super enjoyable. Thanks Duncan!

“Nice camp in Amboseli”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We stayed at this camp during our trip in Mid-December 2011. This resort is not too big and doesn’t get crowded. There is a large pool and access to the park is very close tot he camp. The rooms were clean and the staffs were accommodating. The waiters were very accommodating and provide specials for the kids. The food is not the greatest but we still ate very well. The Masai show around the fire was a nice addition to our stay. Still the best thing is the perfect view we had on the Kilimanjaro when we woke up in the morning. Probably not the best camp in this area but definitely one of the best bang for your buck.

“honest deal in Amboseli”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

this is not an overly priced camp, and therefore much can be forgiven, such as the average food, and the service sometimes not very professional. The location is just next to the eastern entrance to Amboseli. We would have probably been more impressed if the Kilimanjaro had not been stubbornly shrouded in clouds. The tents are well appointed and clean considering the price. Unfortunately bedding and towels were not really fresh.

“Nice friendly camp”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

Just outside of the park. Bonfire and Masaï dancers. Buffet did not have that much of a choice. Mid-range tents with all you need including a very powerful shower.

“Saved by its Ambiance”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

Kibo Safari Camp is outside Amboseli NP, but nearer than some of its competition. Its proximity to Mt. Kilimanjaro affords commanding views of this major attraction. These factors, plus its somewhat lower cost and rather comfortable beds, are the camp's strengths. With the exception of family units, its closely spaced tents are on the small side and most are showing wear. The ensuite facilities are spare and lack surfaces to accommodate toiletries. Common areas are pleasant enough, but choices at meals range from moderately to severely limited and the dining room is occasionally not ready by posted hours. Of more serious concern is the relatively poor hospitality shown safari drivers. A major decision is whether its price differential is sufficient to compensate for its lack of amenities provided by lodges within the park, one of which also features great views of Kilimanjaro.

Room Tip: Its family units may offer better value.
