I found this hotel to be good. My room was comfortable with all that is required by a single traveller. The room was nicely decorated with a comfortable bed. The air-conditioning cooled the room to a reasonable temperature. Everything in the room was clean and well maintained.
The hotel is very close to the castle, just near a tram stop and near an ample rang of shops.
Internet usage was available (for a fee).
The reception staff were efficient, but didn't have great English.
I would stay here again.

“Old and tired”
How this hotel has got such high ratings from other travellers is beyond me. I stayed at this hotel 20 years ago and nothing has changed except for the new flat TVs in the rooms. This was not my first choice, but as all other hotels in Kochi were fully booked, this is what was left.
But let's not forget the good things. Staff is really nice and helpful. Location is great, smack in the middle of town. The Japanese selection in the breakfast buffet held quite good quality. But thats about it. Rooms are small and old, same goes with bathroom. Breakfast is served in the gala room (!) This hotel really need to shape up. It doesn't help that they hand out all sorts of vouchers (which turned out to come in real handy). I would consider the Nikko as a possible alternative.
