“Extended socket in wrong setting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2011

people found this review helpful

For travelers it is important to recharge your many electronic gadgets during your stay at the hotel but the wrong setting of the extended socket displeased me as all of them are nailed to the wall in a reverse position where I could not put the plug onto the extended socket. I could only inconveniently recharge the battery one thing at a time and at the end spend triple the time to finish the battery recharge. This hotel has a stringent control on baggage storage and there is no way to put your baggage here for temporary storage if you are not one of their clients. On the plus side, the hotel is well-situated next to the main subway / train station. Well-spoken english speaking front desk staffs are available all the time for you which you would not see that often in a small town in Japan.

“reject baggage”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2011

I stayed there, because I planed to keep my baggage at the hotel and get it back after travel. But the hotel said it could not keep the baggage because of the power-out. So I put my baggage to coin locker in the station. Breakfast eating place is not the restaurant but only open lobby.

“Comfort Inn Hakata Fukuoka very comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2009

person found this review helpful

We stayed one night at the Comfort Inn Hakata because it was a convenient location to the station for our late arrival from Nagasaki.
We were able to get a spacious room with four beds for 20,000Yen. which was outside our budget but was only for one night.
A guest laundry on the 14th floor was a great convenience
Staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast in the lobby was excellent with free drinks available.
Clean, spacious, convenient location, a bit expensive for us.
Lots of choice for eating out but we chose a "beer and skewers" restaurant a short walk away from the hotel.
Visited a charming park, peddled a "swan" and saw the sacred gold fish and lots of turtles before heading back to Busan on the Kobee ferry.

“good location and great staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2009

** Disclaimer
I was at a twin room on a non-smoking floor, facing the streets.
Dunno about any other rooms.

**Location
Location is great. The metro that connects straight from the airport and the rest of the city is just across the street, and so is the bus terminal that can take you to the spa places like kurogawa and yufuin. Big shopping centers are also just a few streets away, and of course, the underground arcade shopping mall entrance is just outside. There's also starbucks and a convenient store right by so it is super convenient.

**Staff
Best ever. Even considering they're japanese, they were super friendly and helpful. Bus schedules, train schedules, where the stops are, phone numbers for ryokans at yufuin, ask them anything you like, they'll let you know even if it means they need to do some searching themselves. And they're really friendly all through it, even if you ask them at 10 pm. We gave them some ginseng jellies as gifts when we checked out.

**Room
It was bit small, but then, it was to be expected, therefore acceptable. Reasonably clean though I do remember discovering a hair on the bed sheets. It has all basic amenities though I don't think I rember a personal safe.

**Breakfast & Internet
Breakfast? t's FREE!!! What more do you want?
Internet? Never used in the room, but there were 2 computers in the lobby that the guests could use for free and they had internet access. I looked up the weather forecasts on it every morning.

**Noise
The room was facing probably one of the busiest streets in the city, so of course some noise has to be there, but it wasn't intolerable. Besides, we had the windows closed with the air conditioner on so that may have helped.

**All in All
Looking for somewhere cheap, in good location? This may be the place for you.
Looking for a quiet getaway or some more luxury? There are plenty of hotels around this district, go search.

“Friendly and convenient refuge”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 March 2009

This hotel is fine, with friendly staff, comfortable beds and good shower. Breakfast is included. Only problem was a smell of cigarette smoke in the bathroom from the floor below. It's right opposite Hakata station (the pedestrian crossing plays "Comin' through the rye") so it's just what you need when you've staggered off your flight and taken the subway (2nd stop).
