The Hyatt Regency is in a very good location just 10 minutes' leisurely walk across the main road on the east side of the JR Hakata station and about 4 blocks away. I had scoped it out a few days prior to my stay, because I went to drop off a bag I didn't want to have on a train trip with me. The staff there happily accepted it. The lobby is large, with a high central ceiling, but fairly quiet without any lounge singers, etc.
When I returned, I was caught in a blizzard in the 10 minute walk between station and hotel, so I was very grateful to be inside the property. Check in was very fast, I was actually recognized by staff from my brief appearance a few days prior, and I was pleased when I got to my room that the bag was ensconced inside already - the staff were there to bring the rest of my effects.
The room itself was small, but not tiny, really quite standard sized, actually, by Japanese standards - the problem with a hotel of this sort is that when Fukuoka and the Hyatt Regency is their first port of call, they don't have the local perspective of the usual room sizes to put this property in context. There wasn't a lot of room to do calisthenics in, but was fine for two adults and a toddler. The decor was quite attractive, and everything self-explanatory and easy to use. My room did not have any odors as were unfortunately noted by a previous reviewer - unlucky in their case, perhaps, but certainly nothing I noted during my stay.
I found the staff very friendly and helpful. I asked them to make a dinner reservation for me at the teppanyaki bar at the nearby 'With the Style' hotel (great restaurant by the way) and they were very obliging despite the fact that there was no specific concierge desk. Check-out the next day was also similarly straightforward and without fuss.
It was only a 1 night stay, but I thought it was all you one needed for a short stay where most of your time is spent outside of one's room anyway.
