Nikko is a beautiful part of the world. Nikko Park Lodge was easy to access by taxi from the station, expect to pay around 750yen for the trip up the hill to the lodge. Ken, our host was friendly, knowledgeable and a great cook! Accommodation is basic but great value for the money. We'd love to come back to see the snow!

The Nikko Park Lodge Hotel is one of the place you must go.
There is a good balance between price and service.
We loved the atmopsphere, the interior and the rooms, even if very easy, but in the same time comfortable and silence.
The owner (Ken-san), is wonderful, always ready to explain to you where to go and what to visit.
Very close to the hotel there is a hot spring (entrance 400.00 JPY).
And then of course there all the temples and shrines to visit.
If you are looking for a nice place to stay in Nikko I suggest you to go at the Nikko Park Lodge.

We stayed here while my son was attending hockey camp at the nearby ice arena, and had a great time. Originally we only planned to stay 1 day, but we enjoyed ourselves so much that we extended to 3 days. The room we got (4 beds) was actually better than the one that we booked on the website (twin), so that was a pleasant surprise. Not the flashiest rooms, but for the price quite nice and our kids were very happy with their own beds. All the staff were very friendly and spoke great English. The owner gave us some great info on places to visit around Nikko, which helped out a lot. We had a car, but there were a couple of people without, and the owner even drove them around to some of the sites, which was above and beyond the call of duty. The lodge has a nice little restaurant as well that serves breakfast and dinner, including vegetarian and vegan food. The vegetarian curry was excellent, and the kids loved the teriyaki chicken. There's a quaint little onsen within walking distance that was very nice, including a small rotenburo (outside bath). Free wi-fi and computers you can use. Overall we had a great time in Nikko, and particularly at the Nikko Park Lodge. Highly recommended.

We stayed at Nikko Park Lodge for one night, after realising we didn't want to cram Nikko into one day. We were able to make the reservation the same day, which was very convenient. The owner offered to pick us up from the Tobu-Nikko station and bring us to the lodge, and on the way he took us to a local waterfall that we wouldn't have seen otherwise!

The room was lovely, the bed was amazingly comfortable, and it was very quiet and peaceful. They have an extensive and reasonably priced dinner and breakfast menu, and they also sell drinks and snacks, which is good as the location is not near any shops of any kind.

The owner also helped us plan our day the next day, and was very knowledgeable about the area and gave us a very detailed map. Would definitely recommend!
