“Excellent location... great value with a good rate!”

Nikko is one of the premier hotel chains in Japan, and this property is a good blend of luxury, location, and value.

While this hotel isn't exactly ultra-opulent, there's still a sense of quality behind it, especially considering that it's more of a business hotel than a tourist hotel. Some of the single rooms will be small for Western standards (expected in Japan, esp. Tokyo), but the beds are comfy and the beddings are clean and almost luxurious. Bathrooms are well stocked. Fridge in the room. Free internet. Modern flat screen TV. Beware that the cheaper rooms will face an inaccessible courtyard in the middle of the hotel, meaning no city views.

In regards to location, you can be on the station platform at JR Kawasaki Station from your room in under 5 minutes... I timed it once. Keikyu Kawasaki Station will take just a bit longer. Plus, Kawasaki Station has direct buses for Haneda and Narita Airports, along with fairly convenient train connections.

Kawasaki Station is surprisingly good for shopping and eating. Many of the major store and restaurant chains are represented on the hotel's side of the station... there's even a Yodobashi Camera, Marui, and other mall stores in the same plaza as the hotel. Even better, if you take a short walk to the other side, there's a brand-new open air mall (Lazona Kawasaki) with an even greater selection of stores, along with a modern movie theater and giant food court.

Price wise, you can find some pretty awesome deals if you book using the Japanese-language site. We found a 6,800 JPY per night rate TOTAL for TWO PEOPLE, which was an amazing value considering the brand of this hotel and its location. I would have gladly paid up to around 9,000 JPY for the same thing. Think Toyoko Inn prices!

Even if your main destination is Tokyo, this hotel is definitely worth considering for the price and location. You could arguably get to some areas in Tokyo quicker coming from here than from hotels in central Tokyo!

“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2008

I stayed in this hotel for a two week business trip in July 2008 in one of the executive business rooms. I'm a very picky American woman with high standards and was pleasantly surprised by how nice this hotel was. The room was a little bit small but still worked fine for me. The bed was comfy, the room was really modern looking and clean, the aircondtioner worked great and kept the room a comfortable 68 - 70F when on full blast. This was a huge relief because everywhere else in the city I was miserably hot, even while at work. The bathroom was small but again worked fine for me. The shower was great. The breakfast was also pretty good with both American style options and Japanese. The train station is a 5 minute walk and there are two malls attached to the train station, Lazona and Azaela. Both have tons of shops and restaurants. I loved every minute of this trip and can't wait to go back!

“Business hotel, good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2005

A fairly typical Japanese business hotel. It occupies the top 8 or so floors of a 20 storey building. The lower floors contain a shopping centre, some resaturants and a bar. There is anotehr shopping centre next door with more restaurants, subway sandwich bar, starbucks etc, and the main street is about 5 minutes walk away. So no shortage of shops or places to eat!

The rooms are best described as compact; fairly small, but well laid out and containing everything you need. The aircon works well (which is my main criteria for a japanese hotel in summer!)

The hotel is across the road from the JR Kawasaki station - lines to Shinagawa, Tokyo, Yokohama and a branch line that goes north west. It's about 20 minutes to Tokyo depending on which train you get.

There is also a station for one of the private railways just down the street. This one also goes to Tokyo in one direction and Yokohama the other, but is the line for YRP (if you are visting a technology company, they probably have an office there)

All in all nothing special as a hotel, but good location, good local facilities and a reasonable price - perfectly acceptable for a business trip.
