“Close and comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Great place for a transit stop over. Very efficient free shuttle bus. Be warned it can be VERY cold and windy waiting for the bus so take the time to put on gloves, hats coats etc before walking outside in winter. Once there the service is quick and efficient. The bed was comfortable and everything was clean and well maintained. We booked a dinner bed and breakfast package that was excellent value and the food was delicious. Make sure you know your terminal not just your airline to tell the driver on your return to the airport. If you have half a day spare it is worth while going to see the big temple that is close by. Staff told us which bus to catch to a train station and it is a short interesting walk from there. The station has great food boxes as well!!

“Excellent value at the Gateway to Japan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Mutiple times now I stayed at the Hilton NRT and I feel it is time for a review.

Usually I book the Hilton if I either have a late arrival or an early departure at NRT as I don't see the value of paying for an expensive hotel in the city for a very short period of time.

The Hilton runs an airport shuttle that goes every 20 Minutes in the peak hours. However be aware: Between 10am - 3pm there is only 1 shuttle per hour which I personally find pretty scarce. That is not enough and a reason for my minus point. There is also a shuttle from the hotel to Narita but I do not have the current times handy, sorry for that (but at least you know it's there!) ;-)

The overall value is great, I never paid more than 8500 Yen and this week they even ran a special on their Facebook page for only 5000 Yen. As a Hilton Diamond I received an upgrade, free Breakfast, free Internet, free Health Club and some food vouchers. But even without these amenities: That is a great deal. And to single it out: For Hilton Gold/Diamond members it is even better at this property.

The rooms are modern, spacious and the beds comfortable. The bathroom as well is spacious and had the usual Crabtree & Evelyn Amenities. One thing: There is no wireless internet available and the cable for wired connection is only 40cm long which limits you to work at the desk in case you do not carry your own cable for extension. And if you have to pay for internet the rate is 1600 Yen for 24 hours or alternatively 40 Yen per Minute (for short connections).

Breakfast was nice, I ate twice at the restaurants but was a little underwhelmed. The Terrace restaurant did not have too many guests at night both times I was there, that made it feel a little cold and empty. The Japanese Restaurant was ok.

This Hotel is also used by various airlines for their layover.

Enjoy you stay at Hilton NRT!

Cheers
S

Thank you for your recent stay at Hilton Narita - any for your many previous visits - and for taking the time to complete a review on Trip Advisor.
It was pleasing to note that you enjoy your frequent stays at the hotel. As you have pointed out it is a great option for early or late flights.
Thank you for your comments about the mid day shuttle service - we will use them as part of a review of services to and from the airport.
One of Hilton Narita's strengths in the market place is its tremendous value for money, this combined with a solid hotel product produce an overall positive experience.

Thank you for your positive comments about the room and bathroom - whilst a little older we do our very best to keep them clean and well maintained. “OK for a quick overnight. Quite a few problems.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

This was my first Hilton hotels stay for a while that wasn’t satisfactory. Part of the reason might be that I can get easily cranky when coming off from a long flight and things quite doesn’t work out.

Problems that I encountered at the Narita Hilton:

1. When I book an airport hotel I expect that a hotel runs an airport shuttle more often than once an hour. During the day Hilton’s shuttle bus only runs very limited schedule that is borderline useless. Who wants to wait 50+ minutes for a hotel shuttle?

2. No Bellman working at the entrance for helping with the bags.

3. Front desk had a very limited understanding of the English language.

4. Apparently no upgrade, although upgradeable rooms were available at Hilton.com.

5. Front desk refused to reimburse the 2000 yean taxi costs from the airport that I requested due to borderline nonexistent bus schedule.

6. Requested to speak with the GM that didn’t happen.

7. Apparently was given a key to the wrong room first. The front desk staff was running after me when I got to the 10th floor. Then the key didn’t work on the room on the 11th floor.

8. No wireless internet at the rooms and had problems with the wired connection. Wired problem was solved when a new router was brought in.

The price that I got the hotel at the Hilton.com was an AAA rate of 8700 yens. I think that the price was fair. When I was trying to find the name of the hotel GM, I came across their Facebook promo. If you like the hotel on their Facebook page, you are eligible for a rate of 5000 yen and like 5 discount coupons. I made the second booking, while I was already checked in at the hotel, and just notated on the comment section that I would like to switch my AAA rate to this promotional rate. My rate had been changed before checking out to this promotion without any further interaction from my part. Also the hotel had slipped in under the door the discount coupons associated with this promotion.

The room I had fairly normal sized but was starting to look dated, although it had been maintained well. It took some time for me to figure out how to turn out all the lights. It wasn’t very intuitive. The room I had faced the Narita airport

Fitness center was open 24 hours a day. During the night hours you could access it through alternate entry. When I went there 5:30AM there was already more than ten people. When I looked at the sign in sheet, everybody else was a crew member. Apparently this hotel is mainly used for airline crews that is not surprising considering the proximity to the airport.

The breakfast was served at their main buffet. The selection was fine, although not very extensive.

Overall, I wouldn’t mind staying there again, if the price is right, even considering the flaws I had during my stay. They must do some work with the hotel soon. It is starting to look somewhat dated.

“Comfortable airport hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I stay here once or twice every month. Perfect location for a short stay between flights or short businesstrip. The rooms are nice, with comfortable beds, flat screen TV, minibar and clean bathroom.

Room Tip: All rooms are nice.

“Decent airport hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

I have stayed at this hotel three times now and on each occasion I have been pleased.
The rooms are not huge but are clean and have a modern flat screen TV, the bathroom was also very clean with an over the bath shower.
On the downside, internet access is charged for and by a wire only and there was no free bottle of water in the room which is pretty much standard in most hotels.
Being near the airport the hotel has many crew from a number of airlines staying and frequenting the lounge bar, as I was myself. This has a limited but good menu and a wide range of drinks which are fairly expensive.
There is a small shop by the main door which sells most small items that you may have forgotten, snacks, soft drinks and beer.
The shuttle bus takes you into either Narita or a nearby shpooing centre. Buses were punctual each time.
All staff I dealt with spoke good English and were courteous and helpful throughout my stay.
