“great location and spacious room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2010

the hotel is next to the JR Otaru station (for first time visit, it is easier to look for the hotel if you go into wing bay otaru shopping centre straight and look for the signs to the hotel).
The room is spacious with a god view (residential houses and mountain view) and internet access is fast too but it is by lan connection, so only 1 user can surf.
their customer service is also very good (the staffs can speak english and speedy check in / out service).

“My first choice of hotels in Otaru”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2010

Clean rooms and public areas, good food, Actually attached to a shopping mall and train station - no need for a car at all. Fly into Chitose, train to Chikko, walk into the hotel. Excellent service staff. Very convenient to any area in Otaru. 30 minutes to Sapporo. Very definately my first choice of hotels in Otaru.

“Great marine view, nice and cozy room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2010

The hotel is reasonably priced. Great view, room is big and tidy and the hotel is still considered "new" compare to those run down expensive hotels in downtown Otaru. And the best thing is the hotel is connected to this gigantic shopping mall, supermarket and restaurant, you don't need to go out to look for food. There is always something to do.
I also have to mention about the good service of the staff especially the hotel manager. I left my computer charger in the room and they mail it to me to HK. Really appreciate for their kindness.

“Best hotel in Otaru”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 July 2010

I stayed at this hotel as alternative in Sapporo were all full, and was not disappointed. While its location is certainly not ideal for visiting Sapporo, that is not this hotel's purpose. Going to Otaru or Sapporo is done from the local train station, which is about 10 minutes walk through the shopping mall, or a 2 minute taxi ride.
Most of the customers seem to be Japanese couples and families on weekend breaks, attracted by the very large adjacent shopping mall and the area's attractions. I understand occupancy rate is high in the winter.
Half the rooms face the marina (pleasure boat harbor) and the sea beyond; the other rooms face green mountains, which is also pleasant and not a big downgrade. Both sides are very quiet.
Rooms are furnished in a modern style with some very nice local touches, such as blown glass and sculpted wooden door handles; they are also very spacious by Japanese standards, and I think better than much higher priced hotels in Sapporo.
The restaurant serving breakfast has some strange priorities for seating (young couples seem to get the window-side tables in preference to more mature customers), but has very tasty breads, some of the best I have tasted in Asia.

“Great Hotel Stay But Not The Best In Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2010

This hotel is located within the only shopping mall in Otaru which is certainly an advantage in case you need to buy any foods and drinks during your stay. Close to JR Station, about 3 mins walk.

The rooms are huge compare to any other hotels I stayed in Japan and very well equipped.

I was not too impressed with the staffs there. Don't get me wrong, they are all very friendly and helpful but as a 5-stars hotel, you kind of expected they can speak foreign language so that they can communicate with foreigners effectively.

There is no free internet here which is the downside considered almost all hotels nowaday provide free internet access.

Consider all the tourist areas in Otaru are paid parkings, for the same price, I will probably choose other hotels that are closed by the canal. However, if you are not driving or if you don't mind taking JR to the city centre, then this hotel will definitely be a good choice.
