This hotel is directly on the beach, although the beach is nothing to look at and seems to be very industrial in nature. The buildings on either side of the hotel are industrial as well.
We stayed in a Japanese/Western room facing the ocean with a private outdoor ofuro. The room was dated, with blankets instead of duvets on the twin beds (we used the futon duvets instead), worn carpet, a small bathroom, and an ancient nightstand. The pillows were plentiful (again, we used those in the Japanese side of the room). The hotel was quiet, except for the lobby music which is piped through the hotel at such a volume you can hear it in your room during the day. There is no internet in the room, but there is internet by the front desk.
The hotel is showing its age, with a lobby that looks like the old Price-is-Right set. However, the attentive staff more than make up for this.
The public baths were clean and lovely. The open air bath at sunset was wonderful. Our private bath showed signs of sediment buildup and was surrounded by an unsightly metal fence and aging hotel exterior - but who cares when you are in your bath at night looking out at the squid fishing????
The buffet at the hotel was very nice with many different dishes to choose from. We were there two nights and had different options during each meal.
I can't reiterate enough how kind and attentive the staff were.
