After staying in so many hotels in Japan, I have to say that Yunokawa Prince Nagisatei is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in.

We arrived at the hotel late in the mid afternoon after a 3 and a half hour train ride from Sapporo (plus the bus ride to a hotel). The check-in process was quite fast and efficient. They also offered us a welcome drink while we were waiting for an English speaking hotel staff to come and assist us. Staff were very friendly and accomodating, and were willing to answer questions. We booked a city-view room with a private open-air bath so I really did not expect a nice view. However, to my surprise, I can still view part of the ocean from the private bath! Our room was well equipped and they even provided their guests with two sets of Yukata to wear (one to wear inside your room, and the other one to the public area).

Buffet Dinner and breakfast were excellent in taste and in presentation. The yogurt they served was simply the best - rich and creamy (I thought I was eating ice-cream). Huge public bath with an excellent out-door bath viewing the ocean.

We really enjoyed our stay and we'll definitely return to Yunokawa Prince Nagisatei when we visit Hakodate again in the future.

I stayed in a Japanese style room with private seaview hotspring. The view was excellent!! The sea birds flying in front of me .... On the next morning, the snow flied into our onsen ...

The food was good, although can be better. But in this price, to have a private seaview hotspring, it the cheapest I can find in Japan!! Value for Money!

Though its pretty expensive (abt USD200 per room) but my wife and I like being served by attentive staff who will go the extra mile to delight foreign travellers like us. The check-in was a breeze, the dinner was fantastically good with lots of Japan cuisine goodies e.g. seafood deights like hairy crabs, scallops, salmon, tuna; yummy desserts, noodles to your heart content. The private hotspring bath was the attraction! Its HOT! :)
