We stayed in Matsumoto for one night in order to "do" the castle and whatever else we could find. The hotel is your basic business style hotel that you would find anywhere in the world (with the twist of what I have come to understand as the typical japanese style western bathroom).
Internet in room was LAN rather than wireless which was a bit dull with two fo us trying to do stuff at one time but apart from that its location across the road from the station was great and the room in comparison to osaka and tokyo was palatial!
Things I can recommend:
The Matsumoto Castle (The reason you go to the town)
The Sento (about Y900 cab or 20min walk from hotel - quite a good set up).
Didn't take any pics of the hotel - what you see is what you get from there advertising. I'd easily stay there again and would recommend it for anyone on a short trip to matsumoto.

We were visiting Matsumoto to see the impressive castle and needed somewhere to stay near the station and convenient for restaurants. The Tokyu Inn fitted the bill.
The reception is on the first floor where there is free to use internet - a rarity in Japan.
If you are in a north facing room there is an excellent view of the station. The rooms are functional and clean. The bathroom is in a curious 'pod' construction but do not let this put you off as all the facilities worked efficiently.
If you are visiting the castle, look for restaurants on that side of town as they appeared to have more choice than near the station. The hotel has it's own restaurant, and although we did not use it, it looked ok but more expensive than local venues,

I have stayed here many times over the past 6 months on business. Located just a minute or two walk from Matsumoto station and the restaurants and bars nearby it is a very convenient place to stay for business. On the other hand it is a fairly good walk to tourist spots like Matsumoto Castle (I would guess about a 10-15 min. walk away).

The rooms are very small but of average size if you've stayed at a Japanese business hotel before. The beds in the single rooms are wide (about 140 cm. as I recall) and the rooms has a flat panel TV and (wired) internet access. The bathroom is small "unit bath" common to Japanese business hotels. As with most business hotels the room is very narrow with little space to spread out but for a single traveler on business for just a night or two it's a good choice for the price - I usually pay around 5000-6000 JPY per night by reserving online on the Tokyu Inn site directly.

Located 1 minute from the JR train station and about a 15-20 minute walk from the castle, is this good value hotel. The rooms are small and the bathroom looks as if they have installed a portaloo inside the bedroom but its all perfectly adequate. Its clean and comfortable, although there is not much space for luggage and you get a TV and fridge in the room.
Matsumoto is not the kind of town you would spend more then a night or 2 in and this hotel is fine for that. They also had a great buffet breakfast that sets you up nicely for the day.
