I have stayed here many times over the past 6 months on business. Located just a minute or two walk from Matsumoto station and the restaurants and bars nearby it is a very convenient place to stay for business. On the other hand it is a fairly good walk to tourist spots like Matsumoto Castle (I would guess about a 10-15 min. walk away).

The rooms are very small but of average size if you've stayed at a Japanese business hotel before. The beds in the single rooms are wide (about 140 cm. as I recall) and the rooms has a flat panel TV and (wired) internet access. The bathroom is small "unit bath" common to Japanese business hotels. As with most business hotels the room is very narrow with little space to spread out but for a single traveler on business for just a night or two it's a good choice for the price - I usually pay around 5000-6000 JPY per night by reserving online on the Tokyu Inn site directly.

Located 1 minute from the JR train station and about a 15-20 minute walk from the castle, is this good value hotel. The rooms are small and the bathroom looks as if they have installed a portaloo inside the bedroom but its all perfectly adequate. Its clean and comfortable, although there is not much space for luggage and you get a TV and fridge in the room.
Matsumoto is not the kind of town you would spend more then a night or 2 in and this hotel is fine for that. They also had a great buffet breakfast that sets you up nicely for the day.

This hotel is relatively similar to many other business hotels. Clean, comfortable and quiet (except for a hum from the aircon which I slept through). The hotel is across from the JR station so easy to walk to and only 10min from Matsumoto Jo and the main shopping district.

The rooms weren't overly large (as usual) but we had no worries. The staff were friendly and were happy to make dinner bookings etc. and provide directions / recommendations. This hotel also had cheap washer / dryer combos which was very handy as it was mid-way through our trip.

The Matsumoto Tokyu Inn is located diagonally across the street from the train station and a very easy walk. It's also footsteps away from a number of very good restaurants.

We reserved a deluxe twin to get a little extra space, since Japanese hotel rooms tend to be small. We were not disappointed. The room was spacious and comfortable. We also got a significant discount on our room because we are a Tokyu Hotels Comfort Member. It's worth paying the nominal fee to join this program, since you will save much, much more on your first use and there are Tokyu Hotels all over Japan. (You can join online or at the front desk when you check in.)

The hotel is clean beyond all standards of clean. It is also bright, pleasant and modern inside. There are non-smoking rooms available on non-smoking floors.

The front desk staff is helpful and they all seem to speak English comfortably should you not speak Japanese. They were particularly kind in advising us on some day trips to the Japanese Alps.

There is high speed Internet in the hotel, as well as a comprehensive vending area that even includes a small coin-operated washer and dryer.

The breakfast buffet selection is extensive and includes some local dishes as well as standard Japanese and Western fare.

We had a very positive experience at this hotel and will definitely return the next time we are in the area.
