“The location excels. The room disspointing.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 January 2010

Stayed two nights of a week-end at this hotel, after hesitating between Nikko Kanazawa (in front of Kanazawa train station) and this hotel. Location-wise I do not regret my choice. This hotel is in Korinbo, the very centre of Kanazawa, convenient for shopping, eating out and also for sightseeing. Kenrokuen Garden, 21st Century Museum,Ohmi Market are at walking distance. Small streets behind the hotel are also nice to walk around. Shuttle bus service stop for tourists is steps away. Many public bus services are available from the same stop.

The room was disappointing. Our double room faced on the main road and it was quite noisy during the day time, but at night it became surprising quiet with little traffic. I wonder if it would be the same on weekdays. Our room was tiny. It was a bit dusty: I felt the air-conditioning was not cleaned for some time. The bathroom was with molds. The refrigerator was noisy.

The staff services are good and helpful, up to expectation.

Overall, I found it is priced rather expensive for what it is: we paid over 20,000 yen per night. This pricing is probably because there seems to be little competition in this Korinbo area. I saw a couple of city hotels near this hotel, but was not fascinated by them at least looking from the outside.

We did not eat at the hotel. Oden dish at Amatsubo restaurant was excellent (within 5 min. walk from the hotel). Nabe cuisine at Taro restaurant on the riverside in Nishi Chaya area was also very good: a waitress cooks Nabe and serves in an individual Tatami room and it is not so expensive. Small Japanese inns on this riverside looked interesting and could be alternative as accommodation if you do not mind location and convenience so much.

“In need of renovation”

A disappointment frankly. Whilst well-located, the lobby and rooms were very tired indeed. The rooms are the normal small size for a Japanese hotel, but there really is no excuse for not refurbishing. Old TV, old wood furniture etc. Never used any of the "dining" facilities as they closed early and there was certainly nothing available after our late arrival from Hong Kong, via Tokyo. Internet facilities, as mentioned were totally inadequate in this day and age. There was no porterage, and I cannot recall anything positive about the level of service from any member of staff.

“Great location - good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2009

Although not much to look at from the outside this hotel is superbly located for enjoying all that Tokyo has to offer. The rooms are large and spacious - even for those travelling alone which is a rare luxury in Japan.

Breakfasts are excellent - a huge range to of foods to choose from - a variety of restaurants to cater for western or eastern preferences. Although there are often queues in the morning they move quickly and you don't have to wait long.

Try the bar on the top floor - service is wonderful, range of foods excellent and the view at night is spectacular.

A good hotel that really caters for its visitors - even though it is enormous your are not aware of it.

“Perfect Hotel!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 May 2009

The Kanazawa Excel Hotel is located very conveniently for sightseeing. Kanazawa Castle Park and Kenrokuen Garden are both walking distance from the hotel. My kids just loved strolling down the streets where the Naga-machi Samurai Residences are located, also a short walk from the hotel. Our rooms was clean and comfy. We loved their Temperpedic pillows. The hotel staff were friendly and gave us excellent service, they gave us some very useful sightseeing tips.. Check-in and check-out was quick and easy. I would recommend this hotel for anyone traveling to that area.

“beautiful Kanazawa”

We stayed in Kanazawa Excel Hotel Tokyu for three days. We love to see traditional Japanese beaty. Kanazawa is one of the city which has it. Located in the center of Kanazawa, every sight seeing place is whitin 10 to 15 minutes walk. Also, we enjoyed very cute old-fashioned tour bus, with only ¥200 it takes us many places.
Every hotel staff gave us very warm-hearted hospitality, and has full of tour information, so we could go around many places very effectively.
If we have another chance, we'd like to come back Kanazawa and to stay this hotel again to see snow in Kenroku Park near this hotel.
