The Nikko chain is a well-known and well-regarded upmarket hotel chain. I have only had experience with it. And this one at Kanazawa is as much.
It's a rather long drive to the airport. But once you get in, the hotel is wonderful. There is a grand driveway where the cars can back up to drop and pick up your luggage.
The lobby is a little less than impressive because of a spiral staircase that not only nullifies any sense of grandeur but also blocks the view so that you feel a little disoriented.
But the rest of the hotel is fine. The room was comfortable with the expected amenities.
Breakfast was at the top floor, which was a little surprising as I'd expected it to be on the ground level. The view was wonderful. The other surprise about breakfast was that it was much less variety than expected. Perhaps it was winter.
Yes, it's true that this hotel can be anywhere. But it's comfortable and, in winter, warm. And the staff were friendly. All in all, a good experience.
