Very attentive concierge who accompanied us to the room to demonstrate how we needed the room key to access the floor. Our request for a high floor, non-smoking room away from the lifts was definitely met as we were on floor # 28, the highest in the hotel, with excellent views. (Luxury floor twin room) There was however a smoky smell in the room; we could not identify the source. Room was a generous size, with comfortable beds and armchairs. All the amenities you would expect, even pajamas, and we were pleased to find that BBC TV was available. The location is excellent if travelling by train as it is just across from the station (and ANA hotel) and not far to walk with a suitcase. Also near the station is a shopping plaza (AEON Forus) with a number of restaurants, though nothing seemed very tempting. We ate dinner in the hotel bistro which was pretty ordinary for food and ambience, and over-priced. We chose from the limited a la carte menu; there was a buffet but it looked a bit tired even though it was only 6.30pm. We discovered that we could not get breakfast earlier than 7am in the hotel, either in the restaurant or by room service, and there were no simple options available, seemingly just a buffet in the top floor restaurant. We were directed by the front desk to the station where there was a German bakery open early, so we could get just a coffee and croissant. The reason for all the hurry was that we wanted to see Kenrokuen Garden, as unfortunately we had only a short time in Kanazawa before we had to catch the train (bad planning on our part!). The helpful concierge arranged for a taxi to the garden and we had a delightful visit, and then were back in time to catch our train.
