“Location works well”

Very attentive concierge who accompanied us to the room to demonstrate how we needed the room key to access the floor. Our request for a high floor, non-smoking room away from the lifts was definitely met as we were on floor # 28, the highest in the hotel, with excellent views. (Luxury floor twin room) There was however a smoky smell in the room; we could not identify the source. Room was a generous size, with comfortable beds and armchairs. All the amenities you would expect, even pajamas, and we were pleased to find that BBC TV was available. The location is excellent if travelling by train as it is just across from the station (and ANA hotel) and not far to walk with a suitcase. Also near the station is a shopping plaza (AEON Forus) with a number of restaurants, though nothing seemed very tempting. We ate dinner in the hotel bistro which was pretty ordinary for food and ambience, and over-priced. We chose from the limited a la carte menu; there was a buffet but it looked a bit tired even though it was only 6.30pm. We discovered that we could not get breakfast earlier than 7am in the hotel, either in the restaurant or by room service, and there were no simple options available, seemingly just a buffet in the top floor restaurant. We were directed by the front desk to the station where there was a German bakery open early, so we could get just a coffee and croissant. The reason for all the hurry was that we wanted to see Kenrokuen Garden, as unfortunately we had only a short time in Kanazawa before we had to catch the train (bad planning on our part!). The helpful concierge arranged for a taxi to the garden and we had a delightful visit, and then were back in time to catch our train.

“Very nice modern hotel in Kanazawa”

This is a nice modern hotel with decent size rooms, good views and located close to the station. Overall the hotel was well maintained and looked newly refurbished. It's literally just across the road from the station so easy to get to.

If I was heading to Kanazawa again I'd be very happy to stay here again and would bother looking anywhere else.

“Kanazawa Nikko just average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2011

The Hotel Nikko Kanazawa is one of about ten hotels grouped around the Kanazawa central train station, but not a walk if you have luggage. The front desk is cooperative but not very active or informative on what's doing in Kanazawa. Within the hotel the Chinese restaurant is very good but the highly rated Grand Chariot is dull and expensive with disappointing service.

“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

I stayed for one night only, at the beginning of October.
The room was large, by Japanese standards.
The bed was extremely comfortable, with normal sized pillows (not always found in Japan)
I was on the 26th floor and had spectacular views all the way to the ocean.
The staff were friendly and welcoming. Late check out at 12pm was a huge bonus!
Location was fantastic, just a short walk from the station.
I enjoyed free internet in the room.
All in all, a top class hotel.
My only negative was that there was a really unpleasant smell in the wardrobe. I didn't use the robes or hang anything in there because of it.

“My favourite hotel in Japan!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

We stayed at this hotel in Febuary 2010. This hotel has a great location right across from the train station. The hotel has a perfect mix of modern, formal and casual all at once. There was also one of my favourite restraunts in Japan nearby, the sushi go round on the top level of the train station mall.
