This was our second stay at the Nagoya Marriott Associa. The room on the 39th floor was large, and well appointed. It even had things like cosmetic removal fluid for the ladies. The decor I would say is classic American rather than Japanese, but that's no bad thing unless you're looking for a zen experience. So, room wise, no complaints. It was big, clean, well appointed and even had a commanding view of the shinkansen station and the mountains beyond the city. The real plus point of this hotel is its location. It sits atop nagoya's rail hub for both local and inter-city trains. And getting to and from the international airport is just a 35min express train ride away. Moreover, there's a cluster of nice restaurants on the 12th floor, and the Takashimaya store, all 11 floors of it, is in the same building as well. Just cross the street and there's another large chain store called Meitetsu, and a complex of top name boutiques. So convenience wise for shopping and food, it's tops. The downside is the lobby and lift areas can be crowded owing to the high human traffic around the area. This hotel isn't that close to sights like Nagoya port and zoo. Nearest tourist site is Noritake gardens, which is pleasant but doesn't offer much else if you're not into porcelain ware.
