“A very complete hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

This was our second stay at the Nagoya Marriott Associa. The room on the 39th floor was large, and well appointed. It even had things like cosmetic removal fluid for the ladies. The decor I would say is classic American rather than Japanese, but that's no bad thing unless you're looking for a zen experience. So, room wise, no complaints. It was big, clean, well appointed and even had a commanding view of the shinkansen station and the mountains beyond the city. The real plus point of this hotel is its location. It sits atop nagoya's rail hub for both local and inter-city trains. And getting to and from the international airport is just a 35min express train ride away. Moreover, there's a cluster of nice restaurants on the 12th floor, and the Takashimaya store, all 11 floors of it, is in the same building as well. Just cross the street and there's another large chain store called Meitetsu, and a complex of top name boutiques. So convenience wise for shopping and food, it's tops. The downside is the lobby and lift areas can be crowded owing to the high human traffic around the area. This hotel isn't that close to sights like Nagoya port and zoo. Nearest tourist site is Noritake gardens, which is pleasant but doesn't offer much else if you're not into porcelain ware.

“Right above Nagoya Station. Free Wi-Fi, a variety of fine Cups and Glasses, beautiful room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

Excellent location, directly connected with Nagoya Station, with lots of friendly sign of the hotel name. You'll have no problem to find the place. Nice fine quiet room. Especially notable was the free Wi-Fi service, and a variety of nice glasses and cups they offer (for wine, water, coffee, and tea), and the good hair dryer, compared with the same grade hotels. On the other hand, disposable amenities such as shampoos and treatments are common, packed in a big bottle, saying they are being eco friendly...which is unusual for top class hotels. (So you are particular about them, you should bring your own shampoos).
I quite enjoyed the stay, but if I can write about one thing I was confused, it is the way we go up to the guest rooms. The hotel has lobby on the 15th floor, which you can go up by elevator, from Nagoya Station. And you need to take the other elevator which leads to guest rooms. Because the hotel is huge, and the sign of elevator is a bit small, and the elevators are distant, every time I go out and come back to the room, I had difficulty finding the elevators. Hope they will have more friendly signs to solve this problem.
As to food (take away), right in front of the hotel exit (1st floor/ grand floor), there's a fine international grocery shop named 'Seijo Ishii', where you can purchase a variety of beverages including wines, water bottles ( sparkling water/ still water), and snacks. Of course Nagoya station and Basement floor of Department stores (Takashimaya and Meitetsu) offer a lots of wonderful take away food.
And as to restaurants, the hotel has wonderful choices, with some discounts for customers.

“Visit 2 times within 1 trip! 2011 Xmas”

We chose this Hotel as it is very convenient -- just above the JR Nagoya and many other different lines of trains. Besides, we had to change our plane at Nagoya from Sapporo and back to my hometown. So we chose to stay 2 nights here and have a short visit to Nagoya.

The hotel room is big and great!! A bit more comfortable than the one I took in Sapporo :P However, the lobby is located in 15/F of the building, you have to take lift for 2 time from your room -> 15/F -> G/F. But you then enjoy a great view at 15/F -- do take some time for Day and Night View!!

Departments and restaurants are around and a great traffic center -- as we visited the JR museum, Toyota Museum and some local markets.

Peoples in Nagoya are nice too -- English in general is good (for my own experience, they're even better than Osaka!). I sure will visit this place sooner or later again -- as we run out of time to have a hot-spring with a outlet mall aside :P

Room Tip: It is funny that they said only 1 twin bed room at each floor -- so we can't request a connectin...

“Super Convient!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My family of 4 stayed at this hotel for 2 and 1 nights on our way to and back from Hokkaido through Nagoya. We took the uSky Super Express train from the Nagoya Chubu CentrAir International Airport to Nagoya Central Train Station, right underneath the hotel. Once you are out of the train station, you should follow the direction to Takashimaya Department Store. This hotel is right above this department store, with it's lobby on the 15th floor by the super shuttle lift near the JR concourse. Anyway, I hope that I am not confusing you. This hotel, together with two department store (Takashimaya and Meteitsu) and three railway lines (Meteitsu, Kinteitsu, JR) form a big commercial complex which will take a foreigner some time to figure out. But I believe that anybody can figure out within a short period of time.
With all the department stores and railways right underneath your feet, you can imagine what a great life you are going to have. In addition to more than 100 restaurants to choose from, there are many ready to eat food available in the department stores - sushi, yakidori, bento (lunchbox), bread from Fausion, and many other mouth watering food. Many shops for you to browse and you can easily visit any place in Nagoya by the three railways.
The room is clean and modern. I am especially impressed with the accessories. In the bathroom, there are face cleaning set for men and women, hair brush men/women, razor, toothbrush with toothpaste, cotton pads, shower caps, shaving form. In the bar, there are coffee, decaf coffee, green tea, and English tea with cream and auger (brown and white). Since we are on the 29th floor, we got a pretty unobstruted view not only of Nagoya but the surrounding mountains. The view is stunning!!!
I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody who is visiting Nagoya!!!

Room Tip: Please ask for a room facing Fuji Mountain.

“Great Hotel but pricey”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 December 2011

I have stayed here many times and did so last week - along with all the FIFA officials who were in Japan for the World Club Championships. The hotel is first class and can not be faulted for service at any level. But you pay for it - before you even enter the Sky Lounge on the 51st Floor there is a £10 cover charge per head.....ok, so you want to keep out the site see'ers and restrict it to paying customers, but with whiskey at £18 per shot they more than cover their costs. The gym also was an additional £31 per usage - again ok if you stay there for a few hours, but if you want a 30 minute swim at the end of your working day not a value for money option.
However I will continue to use this hotel in the future as quite simply it is unsurpassed due to location, design, hospitality and views.
The lobby is on the 15th floor and floors 12&13 are dedicated to (non-hotel) restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets - even Starbucks is there.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking Nagoya castle.
