“Get a quote in writing or end up paying too much”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2008

Due to unforeseen circumstances (eg the hotel we originally booked via Octopus did not have our booking and thus we had no bed, as the hotel was full.) we had to find new accommodation. We walked around Aqaba and looked at a few places when we found Aquamarina II –this was the only place that had 2 nights free….we now understand why!!!!
We were quoted on booking in $93 US per night and when I suggested I would pay straight away the front of house “gentleman” said no just pay when leaving.
Word to the wise…when you are quoted a price which seems reasonable pay it or get it in writing…because on leaving the price changed…..we did clarify initially the price (six times) to make sure that there was no misunderstanding …$93 US per night.
Came to pay and suddenly the price had changed to 93 Dinars which was almost one and half times the price…this left a very bad taste in our mouth and soured our experience in Jordan which prior to this was great…..such as Wadi Rum and Petra (just wonderful).
The accommodation was average, bed acceptable, bathroom OK but as we are non smokers even when requested a non smoking room we ended up with a smoking room.
So avoid this place….there are simply better places around and ones that do not rip off tourists and change prices.

“Avoid like the plague”

Incredibly rude service, charged for things they said were free, the staff were smoking in the "non-smoking" restaurant, too noisy to sleep in, failed to arrange a dive I had booked 3 weeks in advance....if you want to have a nice stay in Aqaba, pay more and stay at a 4 or 5 star place with a private beach, you'll be glad you did.

“Reasonable”

If you're looking for a good budget hotel in excellent location, with good service, then this hotel would be a good choice. The room sizes and bathrooms are comfortable. However, the enterior design reflect the '70s but
they've done their best to preserve it. Cleaning is not impacible...but luckily focused on bathroom.Staff are friendly and very helpful.(For a tip they can be asked for almost anything;eg.buying items from the market or medicine from pharmacy)
The pools are kept clean and sun deckchairs with matresses are provided around them. The breakfast buffet offers hot and cold meals and drinks with wide variety of choice.
