As long-time expatriate residents in Jordan, we've tried 5* holidays at Petra, Dead Sea, Aqaba. Movenpick edges out its competition for value and service, and Movenpick Aqaba confirms the trend. A 12-day stay booked via internet promotion (pay 3 stay 4 nights) prompted an upgrade to an exquisite sea-view suite with kitchenette (refrigerator, hot plate stove, instant coffee/tea kettle, plus Nespresso), with sitting room (large flat screen TV, many channels, ipod cradle, sofa, desk, side table w/ 4 chairs), king bedroom (another flat screen TV); and bathroom with separate shower and deep bath. Excellent breakfast buffet with eggs cooked to order, albeit crowed in doors but with outdoor terrace seating. Mini-bar complimentary juices, soft drinks, crisps, and bath amenities stocked daily. Excellent and attentive staff throughout. Private beach, well-equipped aerobic and weight room, multiple pools with kids segregated, table tennis. Complimentary WIFI in lobby. Nothing much to see in Aqaba itself, but hotel is fine. Will return, in spite of the 3.5 hour drive from Amman.
