“Clean, Convenient, & Reasonable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

The rooms are a bit of a throwback in time with the 4:3 TVs, real metal room keys, and lack of an iron in the rooms (there are hair dryers & coffee pots in the rooms & an open wi-fi network is available) however, the cleanliness of the hotel, amicable staff, & convenience of the location provided a very positive experience. The lobby proved to be a warm and inviting atmosphere with a cozy fire in the fireplace during the complimentary continental breakfast. The cost was very reasonable & fair. We'll definitely consider the Lord Amherst during future travels to Western New York.

Room Tip: We had two rooms for our group which included a smoker. The smoking rooms were located furthest fro...

“Not pet friendly”

My husband and I attempted to stay here last weekend while visiting family. We brought our dogs along. We left the two of them in the room (one was crated) so we could go have dinner. When we came back we had a message that we could not leave the dogs alone in the room. Apparently one barked a few times at a noise which should be typical for a dog friendly hotel. I have stayed in other pet friendly hotels where the animals are allowed to be left alone in your room. How is someone supposed to go get dinner if you can't leave their dogs there?
The rooms are old. Bathroom was not really that clean and the room had a smell of wet carpet. Also the sheets were pink so you know they couldn't be bleached. It was just not a good place.

“Worth the price and very clean!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

The place maybe old, but the rooms are well kept. It is very close to Prometric testing center. Highly recommended for those who are taking their exams at Prometric. Breakfast is provided and wifi is free. The stuff are courteous and approachable. Worth every penny.

“Good price, friendly, inviting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We stay at the Lord Amherst a couple times each year, and we expect to keep staying there for our trips to Buffalo. The beds are comfortable and everything is clean. Their coffee is good in the morning, and the breakfast is light but satisfying. The internet connection is free and fairly fast (I got a few Mbits/second - good enough for streaming). The hotel is older; you mostly notice that with the bathroom fixtures. They even have a slot in the wall for your old razor blades. However, everything - including climate controls - has always worked for us. We normally stay 1 to 2 nights.

Room Tip: There are corner rooms that are bigger. They're worth a little higher price.

“Excellent Super Clean & Neat Value Stop!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

My husband and I were traveling from NH to AZ with our cat for the first time. I was trying to keep to a low budget. I read many reviews both on the AAA Trip Tik sight and here and I called each hotel and asked about pets and bed bugs. This hotel accepted pets at no extra charge. While I had asked for a first level room, I was given a 2nd level but I didn't complain or ask to change. I appriciated the quiet of not having someone noisy above.

We had a very large room and bathroom. While the decor was old fashion it was more than adaquit. We were very pleased. It was late and cool in the room. I told my husband that the heat was not working but we like it cool for sleeping. It was his error as there are two parts to the heat...both on the wall and by the window at the heater! We felt silly but happy that I could give a great review.

The lobby when checking in was warm and friendly with great service and lots of seats by a fire. This is where they serve the continental breakfast. We met and talked with a very sweet lady who worked the breakfast. She informed us that new owners just took over and they were trying to renovate and upgrade. I thought it was fine as it was. I hope the prices don't go up! Breakfast had everything but eggs. It was super plentiful and we even took a snack to go.

Room Tip: Second floor are quieter but lower floors easier with a dog.

Yes, the new ownership is making some improvements and they are certainly aware of the need to keep the price affordable. We greatly appreciate the feedback.
