5 of us ( 4 South Africans and 1 Aussie - 3 in their late 20’s and two in their early 60’s! ) stayed here in December. We did a 4 night package which included accommodation, all meals and some activities.
We received excellent service from the minute we set foot in the airport to the minute we left.
We arrived at Thorntree and were overwhelmed with it's beauty – the views of the Zambezi were magnificent and almost at your feet.
The lodge staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make our stay a pleasurable one, especially the manager
Each room within the lodge over looked the Zambezi with a private veranda however there is also a central boma for meals and drinks which we ate at each evening.
Our rooms were gorgeous AND you can lie on your bed with a view of the Zambezi and ...hippos if you are lucky!
Thorntree has resident elephants which was a real treat.
The meals were delicious - we felt so spoilt with the great meals we were treated to whislt over looking the Zambezi.
We visited Royal Livingston and David Livingston Hotel ( for high tea and as a departure point for the sun set cruise) whilst we were in Zambia and I can say that Thorntree River Lodge wins by far!! Thorntree oozes the African spirit - you can see the hippos enjoying the sunset whilst you have a sun downer/dinner and it’s far less commercial than Royal Livingston and David Livingston Hotel.
We did the sunset cruise on the Zambezi, Lion Walk, Chobe day trip, White River rafting with SafPar and a tour of the falls with the lodge staff and they were all fantastic. Xx was wonderful to us throughout our stay and also co-ordinated everything for us, arranging to drop us here there and everywhere daily.
After an exciting day at the falls my boyfriend proposed at Thorntree on our very picturesque veranda overlooking the Zambezi!!!
Highly recommended!
