“Hotel with best view of Han River”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 January 2012

person found this review helpful

Although there are other new hotel popping up in the city. This hotel probably has the best view of the Han River. Try the bar on the 20th floor.

The rooms has a character. it's very woody and has a natural feeling. The TV is very small, but most of the facilities in the rooms are modern and the beds are comfortable. Public areas including the lobby, dining area and the conference rooms are also that of good standards.

Unfortunately, the service provided by the staffs here are very basic - as the case, there seems to be an unbalance with the good facilities. They will need to improve here to survive the competition coming.

Room Tip: Obviously, choose a river view room (probably more expensive).

“A decent place to stay in Da Nang, but not perfect.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2011

My husband I have stayed at the Green Plaza twice within the last two years, most recently in November 2011. if you're most interested in staying in the city, rather than down by the beach, the location isn't bad.

When you first walk in the lobby, the hotel appears to be quite nice...large and grand looking. Checking in was quick and easy. No, the staff doesn't speak perfect English, and I wouldn't expect them to, but they are friendly and efficient. Once you step into the elevator, you may detect a slightly damp smell, and don't be surprised if you smell it a few other places. We arrived at the end of Da Nang's rainy season and it was clear something had been leaking, somewhere. Sometimes the lights are on in the hallways druring the day, and sometimes they're not. Not sure if this is an energy saving measure?

The rooms themselves are perfectly nice and clean.--wood floors throughout, including the bathroom, which are kept clean? Housekeeping staff is friendly and attentive. Laundry service
was excellent and done the same day. The only issue in the room was the shower. It came on full blast and the water couldn't drain out fast enough, so after a few minutes I was standing in a couple inches of water. I would try to cut my showers short so as to not flood the stall, but then we figured out the trick with the handle that reduced the water pressure. When we stayed two years ago, we had a tub, encased in a glass wall. The water would spray all over the edges and down onto the floor-- a total mess that we had to keep cleaning up. Don't know if they've fixed that problem. The beds are good-- very firm.

Breakfast is ok. The staff in the dining room are lovely and provided good service as far as bringing coffee and clearing dishes go. The buffet--while there is a ton of food-- could be improved. Many dishes are hot, served in chafing dishes, but there's nothing to keep the food hot, which is probably a bit of a health hazard. Breakfast began at 6 but I often didn't make it down till after 8. By that time, the food was lukewarm. The good news is, there was always toast! Someone was there making fresh omelets as well.

The pool area is not bad. On the 8th floor, it's a nice place to lie in a chair and read. The small gym is slightly depressing but it has a treadmill and a decent elliptical and some free weights.

Despite a few issues, I'd probably stay at the Green Plaza again if I were staying in the city, mostly because I don't know of anywhere better. The HAGL is likely a bit fancier, and from what people were saying about the Mercure, it sounds like a nice place worth checking out. If you decide to stay at the Green Plaza, be sure to check out the Bamboo2 bar justva few doors down the street, and also Highlands Coffee, a bit farther past Bamboo.

“Great Stay in 2009”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 November 2011

We stayed at the Green Plaza in April 2009. Enjoyed the stay. Very friendly staff. Food was very good. Room was very nice.

Room Tip: Get a room at the front of the hotel so you can see the water.

“Below average stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

We stayed at the hotel from 20-22 October. It would be worth hunting round as this is a very average hotel. The rooms are ok, breakfast below average and the roof top bar poor. In fact in the bar the staff appeared clueless and offered us a bottle of White wine that was dark yellow in colour - well past it's sell by date.

The worst part was being accosted by the reception staff as we sat in our taxi to leave they accused us of taking a hand towel and demanded 190,000 dong, we gave them 200,000 (£6) so we could leave. We never took a towel nor hand any desire to do so. We did forget to tip the room maid so maybe this was their way of getting something from us. It was a big mistake on behalf of the hotel. Tread carefully with this one.

“Nice and spacious rooms, free high speed internet, request a room with river view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

I stayed at Green Plaza Hotel before but had not seen much of the hotel at that time. The check in was friendly and efficient although I didn't feel comfortable to leave my passport with the staff. The first room, very spacious, probably a junior suite, was located on the 6th floor where preparations were going on for a conference, a power cable run on the floor in front of my room from a load center to the conference room. When the staff tested the amplifiers the noise was unbearable. I went down to the reception and requested a new room, and got one on the 8th floor with view to the swimming pool, on the same level as my room, thus I had to close the curtains to ensure privacy. The room was spacious with a parquet flooring, the bathroom with showerhas everything one needs, free high speed internet in the room, very extensive and good selection of dishes at breakfast, the staff very polite and attentive. However, it is a mystery too me why I didn't get a room with river view as the hotel didn't appear to be fully booked, in fact it looked rather empty. There is a small gym on the 8th floor besides the swimming pool.

Room Tip: Avoid room 0804 because the view to the swimming pool is not that nice, and guests in the swimming p...
