“dreadful, dingy and dirty”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2010

I would never recommend this hotel and I will never stay there again. The hotel is filthy. The ceiling in the bathroom was mildewed and cracked, the towels were holey and gray (should have been white), the toilet seat was cracked. The room was incredibly dated, the beds were uncomfortable (oh and they gave me a room with two single beds). The window in my room would not close, thus continuous noise from the street, day and night. The only plus was the location is central in Da Nang city, but there seems to be other hotels that are a little newer and cleaner that would be more suitable.
The rate was $40 per night, and I have stayed in hostals that are better. The main thing that put me off about this hotel was that it was very dirty.

“Nice location, but not so tidy”

We stayed here for several nights but were not satisfy with the cleanliness of this hotel. Sometimes hat bugs in the wardrobe and ground. The plus point was friendly and enthusiastic service, and the location is very close to the city centre.

“A little tired”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 April 2010

This is actually the Bamboo Green Central Hotel.. I just needed a hotel to go to the Da Nang international fireworks competition. Looked it up on a map and thought it would do. It's lucky the taxi driver knew where to go...there are several Bamboo Green hotels.
There are 2 lifts. Its about a 5 minute walk to the river front. The river front doesn't have the usual horde of motorbikes that one sees everywhere in Vietnam,

Arrived ok (35000 dong taxi ride from the airport) and check-in was relatively stress free.
Staff were friendly and spoken fairly good English. The room was ok (5th floor). One double and one single bed. I slept very well. The bed was comfortable. Although there is some building work going on next door. I think if the weather had been dry I would have been woken up early. The windows needed cleaning and I couldn't open them. Aircon worked very well. Bathroom was looking a little tired. Could do with a revamp. As could the chairs, one of which had a partially broken leg.

I also couldn't see the point of supplying cups when there was no complimentary coffee / tea or even a kettle supplied! Although there was fruit and a knife supplied. Bathroom had the usual toothbrush comb etc supplied. There was an hair dryer as well.

Breakfast was an ok affair, not brilliant just ok. With a little bit more choice if you are into Vietnamese food.

Internet access was free and was both wireless and wired. Although the cable had seen better days. It was reasonably fast as well.

TV was ok with a fair spread of channels although Discovery and Nat Geo sound kept disappearing then coming back....it was the same on the restaurant TV.

I had a good view of the fireworks from the roof of the hotel.
Would I go again? I have stayed in far worse but think I could have got something a bit better for the money.

“You could do much better.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2009

Poor hotel. Located more centrally and away from the beaches. Rooms had carpet, which is not good for a tropical climate - it mad the rooms and the whole hotel smell moldy.

“What a dump - avoid at all costs”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2007

We too were put into the Bamboo Green when our flight to Hue was diverted. The room was damp and smelled awful. This dampness had the effect of reacting with the starch on the bedsheets which made them damp and sticky. The bath plug was attached to the bath by a piece of string and I cannot describe what I found hanging off the plug when I removed it from the bath and the tablecloth at breakfast was absolutely filthy .

On checking out we were asked to pay $2 for a short telephone call to the hotel we should have been staying in at Hue and $2 for two small bottles of water from the 'mini bar' that would normally cost a quarter of that price. They even tried to get us to pay for two cans of beer that we never had and weren't even available from the fridge.

As for the claim that all rooms had a harbour or city view, ours looked out, through four layers of metal bars, to a rusty corrugated iron roof.

This hotel is listed in Lonely Planet - usually a good source of decent accommodation but they've got this one badly wrong.
