I had originally booked a different hotel in Hoi An, but it turned out to be miles away from everything, and the tour bus I took from Hue to Hoi An dropped us off in front of this hotel. So I decided to take a look. They showed me the 15 dollar/night rooms, which were surprisingly large, with spacious bathrooms, and a shared balcony. The hotel also has a nice looking swimming pool, and when I saw that, I decided to stay.
The rooms: hideous colors (brown and orange), but large, with spacious bathroom. Rooms are rather dark and gloomy, and while the bathroom was clean, it for sure could use some polishing up, as it is quite worn down. The room itself was clean at first impression, but looking behind nightstand and tv table, I found quite a lot of dust. Could use a proper cleanup, but, by all means, it was clean enough.
The staff were friendly enough and helpful with arranging transportation to Da Nang airport.
There's a bit of an issue with the hotels computers and WiFi. WiFi did not work in the private rooms, only in the reception area, and there were only 3 computers for all guests to share, which is far to few in a hotel of this size.
Location is ok, a 10 minute walk to the old town.
So far, you would imagine I should rate this hotel to very good, at least. BUT: on check-out, I found that my bill was overcharged by 25 %. I tried mentioning this, but then suddenly none of the staff understood english, and as my driver was waiting to take me to Da Nang airport and I was in a rush, I had no option but paying. This is just not acceptable. They also only accept cash payment (dollars or dong), you cannot pay with a credit card. This I also think they should have informed about before or during check-in.
If it hadn't been for the payment-issue, I would have rated this hotel to very good, because it is a good budget hotel in a rather good location, but the payment-issues are just not acceptable, and thus, I would be reluctant to recommend this hotel. If you choose to stay, make sure you have enough time to sort out and get a proper explanation of your bill before leaving, anyway. Because the hotel itself is really not that bad.
