We have just arrived back from an 18 day trip to Vietnam.We chose to sat at Thuy Duong 3 hotel in Hoi An from recommendations on Trip Advisor.We got collected from the airport by the Hotel for $30US but managed to organise our own transport back for $17US.The staff at the hotel were not as friendly or helpful as we had come across in the rest of our travels of the North of Vietnam but not to say they were snooty.Just not so ready with a smile.Our rooms were lovely with balconies over looking the pool.We were unlucky with the weather and our 4 days were all wet so the pool didnt get used but looked sooo inviting.The hotel is a 8 minute walk to the river and the tourist area but we loved the fact that were were out of the hussle and bussle as it was tourist mecca over the New Years break.The rooms were airconditioned and also had a mozie net if you wanted the french doors open on your balcony.The bathrooms were large and had great pressure in the shower.Toiletries and fresh water were provided daily and there is free internet and computers down stairs.Breakfast was basic and they were slow to replenish items when they were finished.Fresh eggs of any type were available.You can also get small maps of the area to get around and we asked for a good tailor only to be sent to the two most expensive tailors in the town.I dont know whether they get a % for sales but we found that the recommended tailor charged twice what the others did.There is a great shoe shop right near the hotel that we had boots made.Remember to barter hard as I dont think I did but got 2 pairs of books for $135US and they were ready in 24 hours.There are a couple of good restaurants right near the hotel if you dont want to do the walk to the river where most of the restaurants are.This is also the market area which is mad with tourists and bargains to be had.Hoi An is a gorgeous town and I would have liked to explore more of it had half the family been down with an illness.We did mamaged to get a local doctor out to see my daughter who had been ill for days which was great and reassuring.Just a warning that there must be a kareoke bar somewhere in the area so you are serinaded with terrible vietnamese singers at all hours but it was new year and I must admit I had a bit of a laugh as long as it wasnt 1am in the morning.

This nice hotel is centrally located, just 5 minutes walking to the Old Town.
Our Deluxe room was huge, with living room and bedroom decorated with a touch of Vietnamese style.
The bathroom was also spacious, but the taps could be better maintained (stained, looked unclean).
The room offered a kettle for tea, a big balcony on the back-street with wooden armchairs.
Four computers with Internet access are available in the lobby.
The hotel offers also a Spa (with beauty treatments and massage) and a small swimming pool, but we didn't use them.
Breakfast is quite ok.
Staff at the reception is cold and unfriendly: this point could be improved.
Anyway my overall impression is really positive.

Quiet location on outskirts of the city. Balconies looking out on rice fields a nice touch. Very well appointed rooms. Nice decor, breakfast buffet included and computers were nice extras.

When I arrived to check in I got a king size bed room, which at first appeared to look nice, but the smell in the room was so awful (like fertilizer) I went straight down to reception to ask for a change. They agreed very reluctantly and gave me one new, which this time smelled less bad but was musky smelly and damp. It was definitely humidity damage in this hotel, and there was no way to fix this by opening windows as it was cold and pouring rain pretty much all the time. Breakfast was quite disappointing as well, with very basic choice.

The only good thing about the hotel was the location, but I'm sure there are plenty of others just as well located (Hoi An is not really that very big), so that should not be a reason to choose this hotel.
